yeah, i know, not all of 'em are good though. I like the infamous games and prototype games as well. marvel ultimate alliance was fun too. What other super hero games do you recommend?

so, i'm playing the game, and the first thing you do is one of those slow walks, where you escort joker. I hate those

Can you not change the difficulty mid playthrough?

Also I've heard several people say that the combat in Spider-Man and Arkham are very different despite being superficially similar. I've even heard that playing one right after the other can make it a lot harder to adjust.

Yeah, in the surface the combat looks similar, but honestly the combat in spider Man may be easier. In Spiderman, you can Dodge mid punch, but you can't do that in Batman. Also in Spiderman, it's a bit easier to incapacitate since you have webs, and you can just knock enemies on the ground or close to walls and web them up.

The only gadget I have in Batman is the batarangs, so more gadgets will probably make combat easier.

If I remember right, the only gadgets you can use in combat in Asylum are the batarangs and batclaw. Using other gadgets in combat, like the batgel, wasn't added until City.

The batarang is pretty useless in combat until you get it leveled up so that you can throw 3 batarangs at the same time and also get the ability to knock people down with the batarangs when you have a combo going.

Combat in the Arkham series is kind of defensive in nature. It's better to counterattack rather than to directly attack. Rather than doing a direct counterattack with the counterattack button, it is actually better to use the move that flips Batman over an enemy. That is one of the best moves, and you should be doing it frequently. Flip over an enemy and then hit him in the back. You want to keep your combo going since you move faster and hit harder when you get the combo high enough. I think there is even an achievement that is unlocked by getting an 80+ hit combo. You will really feel like a badass when you get good enough to get that high of a combo.

City has one too
I think all of them start slow In some way or another. With orgins it was just cut scenes though.

Well I played on 360 and you could just power down the system. Either way it still harder because even if you do that you are practically playing with a reduced life bar at that point.

Think I only did it for one boss fight. Too many on screen button prompts that if you fail your dead.

It's not hard at all. Don't button mash. That's the key. Actually time out and plan your button presses. Games like these aren't meant to be button mashers.

Use the combat challenges for practice. The only way to get 3 stars on them is to get a good combo going.

I think its easiest In city. Did several Riddler challenges where from start to finish I pulled off a single combo to clear the whole challenge.

It's very easy to get an insane 200+ hit combo in the challenge with the one-armed hammer guy. Use the beat down on the hammer guy while using the bat-swarm move to keep everyone in stun-lock.

I think I've gotten close to 200 if not over without bat swarm. But I was pretty good dropping my attack on him to counter or pre emptively hit someone else about to take a swing at me.

You need to learn too many combos and then pull them off perfectly one after the other in like less than 3 seconds.

I think that's forced. Think you have to beat hard mode first. Can't recall but I wanna say it a acts like a new game plus. You keep your equipment but you don't get counter prompts. Can't remember if hard mode even had them though just know ng+ didn't and neither did the you die its over mode.

That's not even remotely close to the truth at all. I hate fighters like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat because I am terrible at memorizing combos. Yet I love the Arkham combat.

There aren't any real combos in Arkham. Unless you mean A+B and Y+X are combos. But they're not combos.

I rarely used gadgets in fights. Still got top ranking In challenge mode. Provided you are good enough to not get his and do one never ending combo to clear the level plus avoid instant takedowns as that's less hits for your combo that's usually good enough

Oh ok gotcha. Never been a trophy hunter save a couple of games.

Still doesn't sound that difficult. The predator challenges are what always gave me issues. I mean the things were it wants you to perform all these various takedowns in one run of predator.

I did them all in City. I won't be able to in Origin unless I get a new gamepad. Keyboard and mouse would be impossible for that shit. Only the wall ones were especially hard in City. The anticlimatic "fight" with Riddler after getting them all wasn't worth it either.

I wouldn't really call it a stealth game compared to things like Metal Gear. I 100% Styx:Master of Shadows recently which was pure stealth. That game had some serious gameplay issues that made it a bit harder than it should have been too. At least I was able to finish it after my gamepad broke.

I'm trying to get the new game too but have to wait. I also liked trying to see if I could kill every single guard in a level since it made it easier to find the tokens. Due to glitches it was impossible to kill some of the knights. The description for abilities could have been better too since they didn't describe what the final amber one did properly. It lets you see the exact location of tokens so you didn't have to blindly look or watch a youtube video. The description just made it sound like you could only see them if you were in the direct vicinity.

Not calling Arkham a stealth game but there definitely was a focus on it as they put more effort into the mechanics than most non stealth games with stealth sections. Usually I hate stealth in a non stealth game because its poorly implemented.

Not calling Arkham a stealth game but there definitely was a focus on it as they put more effort into the mechanics than most non stealth games with stealth sections. Usually I hate stealth in a non stealth game because its poorly implemented.

There is a lot of stealth but you don't have to use it. It definitely helps when you need to take out enemies with guns though.

You need to stealth at least one of the bosses in Arkham City, and possibly other things I can't remember.

Is it possible to beat some of the gun groups without stealth?

If they're alerted just attack fast or hit them from behind a wall if they rush at you. I don't remember what boss that is.

Mister Freeze

Unless there's some other method I'm unaware of.

I guess that counts but it was more about setting off traps than pure stealth like using the gargoyles to take out people stealthily.
