I've just been running around doing almost sweet fuck all. Discovered some locations. Just finished the griffin quest.

I'm just really enjoying how involved the quests are. Not a single fetch-quest so far. All story driven with interesting choices and outcomes.

Incidentally, what's the best way to improve foliage? Not sure if it's the grass setting or the texture setting or resolution, but all my foliage looks a bit waxy and tacked on. Don't exactly have a beast of a computer but I think I have wiggle room.

I got so caught up with exploring, running around, and stumbling in to bandit camps, that I ended up outleveling the quests. I was one hitting everything. I discovered much later that there is an option to have enemies scale with you.

As for your foliage problem, turning off other graphic settings might allow you to boost your green. Shadows, and lighting are a good place to start.

I'm trying to pay attention to quest levels. I was quite underlevelled at first and was getting two-shotted by drowners but that's also probably because I was approaching from a typical RPG point of view and not dodging or blocking attacks.

Also I'm weirdly loving the goryness of the game. Slicing dudes in half is great fun.

Is it recommended? Enemy scaling is something I hated in Oblivion but it's also a bit crap to be overlevelled.

No. Both expansions have a significant boost in combat difficulty over the base game.

Thing is, the only way not to overlevel is to effectively skip most of the side content.

I really wish I would have been able to play the first Witcher years ago. Owned it since ~2010, but didn't have a PC that could run it well until years after Witcher 2 was out.

I can't just jump into Witcher 3 without playing the first two and I know I'm missing out.

Some people like difficulty and challenge. But for me, I like to play as a bad ass monster hunter. Whip out the console and use commands to make geralt level 40-60 immediately and I slice every bandit in half.

I still had so much fun with the story I played it twice. Thats around 250-300 hours on a singleplayer game. And I still need to replay the expansions which are absolutely brilliant and better than the main game.

You're actually not lol. I'm a huge Witcher fan, I've played all three games multiple times, I've read the books. Trust me, the only thing you need to might truly need to know to understand what's going on is the ending of Witcher 2. 3 was specifically designed to be accessible to new people. Much of the game centers around the yennefer/wild hunt stuff, which wasn't really discussed more than a few conversations in the first two games. The games deviated from the books quite a bit

I only played the Witcher 1 but I really liked it

I want to play 3 since people have been slurping it's ass for years but I want to play 2 first

I lost of a lot of enthuisasm when I heard Shani wasn't in either (yes I know she's back in the expansion) because she was the best girl.

She actually had a brain, wanted to help people and wasn't just a cock slobbering nymphomaniac with her tits out like literally every other female in the series.

Witcher 2 feels very small in comparison to the first game. The first game took me absolutely ages to complete.

It's not aged well, though.

Also, in 3, the women aren't like the ones in the first game. There's honestly only two slutty women you interact with regularly, and they're the two sorceresses.

I think so, spoiler tag them to remind me. It's been a while.

you get regular exp from quests as long as you're not more than 5 levels ahead. so what I do is clear the side stuff that are within that while at the same time trying not to get too OP for my next story one, and then rinse repeat.

eventually tho you'll "overlevel" regardless no matter what, unless you skip the side stuff like someone said. which is NOT recommended cuz the side shit is sooo good.
