You'd think a 50 year old who has been using computers for 20+ years, 8+ hours a day, would have gained some degree of proficiency, or at least some sort of familiarity with computers, but that is just not the case.

i cannot count the number of times i have to show people how to type a URL into Google Chrome or how to switch between browser tabs or something like that. the equivalent would be someone who has driven a car for 30 years to call the dealership to ask where the turn signal is, with their excuse being "oh yea, i'm not really interested in cars"

people who complain about "not being computer people" who have to work with computers every day bug the shit out of me
like, I get that you didn't spend your formative years with them so it takes you longer to grasp certain aspects, but it's literally your job. imagine if you worked in sales and said you weren't a people person or you work in construction but not an outdoors person

Baby Boomers are the kids that were conceived shortly after WW2 ended. A 50 year old is 4 or 5 years too young to qualify.

If they haven't been able to switch between browser tabs for 20+ years, chances are they don't normally use the computer for the same things you do.

It is pretty incredible but even moreso when they think it's a cute hobbyist thing and not a basic tool required to do primary functions of their job

Boomers have been getting criticized since before most millenials could talk.

That's an awful comparison. Better one would be from a plane to a car, or a boat to a train, or some shit like that.

Do they though? Apparently introducing genders other than the binary makes them so confused and angry.
