Pay would drop from 38k to 29k, but keep the same benefits/health insurance.

Could eventually work my way up to a nice head custodian position and make 40-45k+

It would give me more time to pursue supplemental income and business ventures. My sanity, too.

Give me the courage to do it CE. I'm nervous about how it'd look for me to apply.

Stop caring about what other people think about your job. If being a janitor is what you want to do, then just do it.

To clarify, I don't care what other people think about it. I care about potential employers seeing a teacher making the switch to school janitor as a major red flag.

As a janitor with the school system you get: amazing benefits, a livable wage, and potential to move up.

The only fear is privatization/outsourcing may well end this party.

What do you teach and where?

I'm a 7th grade math teacher in LA. I wouldn't change it for something else--at least my job is different and dynamic each day. But it sure is stressful lol

Do it, right now I have to drive a 1.5 to work. I am working on a project for said job. And I am only offically part time. So I get no benefits and every day I get more and more depressed. Life sucks I am getting fatter and I am just really bad off.

I tell you this because life is short, BE happy. That is what you should be doing, being HAPPY and not worrying about anything else.
