The series highlights that he's pretty much reached her level by the end of 3-5. By AA6, he's honestly way past her.

Phoenix > Mia > Apollo > Athena for the main defense attorneys in the series.

There are a few that we catch glimpses of (Diego, Gregory, Ray, Dhurke), but we never really see any of them enough to actually judge how good they are.

There is, it's been out for like right at 2 years now.

But Athena does nothing for 90% of it, and her biggest contribution is jobbing in a short filler case until Blackquill bails her out and carries her hard. And in the DLC case she actively becomes a joke and she only exists to be mocked for her uselessness. Athena gets it really rough in 6.

Opinions on it vary, like with most of the series. Personally, it's my third favorite after AA3 and AAI2. I loved it.

Honestly the best feat was already in the first game, beating a prosecutor who had a 50 year+ perfect record. Not even Mia has done anything to that level. Then again, said prosecutor jobbed hard and fucked himself over so many times.

She does do that a lot but a big plot point in 1-4 is Maya being unable to channel Mia and feeling useless because of it (though she does help out in her own way). I think this was supposed to be the point he originally surpassed Mia before the later games came out.

Ultimately, Nick is far better than he lets on. He always goes by the seat of his pants and he's humble about his own abilities, but at the end of the day, dude gets fucking results.

Of course Phoenix had something to do with it. Yanni wouldn't have confessed if Phoenix wasn't there and uncovered all that stuff and brought back those memories. In any case, Phoenix officially defeated Manfred here since he got an acquittal over manfred's prosecution.
Also, Edgeworth was the defendant during the final unofficial Gregory trial with Manfred prosecuting him so that's still a loss to Manfred. Though how official that trial was is ambiguous.

It should be worth noting that Phoenix figured out the 7-year-plan from the beginning of the game. He just dropped some crumbs so that Apollo could also figure it out.
