If she won, the Democrats wouldn't be bitching about the electoral college. They would say it's a fair representation of voters. But because she lost and it was supposed to be her turn, they won't shut up about it.

Even without the electoral college, she wouldn't have won. She didn't receive a majority, and under the current rules, the house would have decided the president, and I have a feeling they would have voted Trump.

Loses: I think we should seriously consider abolishing the current winner take all system. Its archaic and meant for a different time.

Wins: The current system is not without its flaws, but nothing is. As long as its still effective we should keep it in place and improve upon it.

Note: 10 states (all generally thought of as blue states) and DC signed on to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact before the 2016 election.

The idea that Democrats only suddenly recognized the flaws in the EC after 2016 doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

We live in an unequally represented Democratic Republic.
Small states get more electoral votes (the votes that actually elect the president) per capita than the larger states, which get less.

There's no reason we can't live in a direct democracy for the Executive office in this day and age.

Congress exists for the purpose of representing states.

The president doesn't actually have that much power so I fail to see the issue if he gets elected by popular vote.

LOL.

"All pure democratically elected head of states implode....

Except for every first world democratic country"

Holy shit that is quite the mental gymnastics.

There is no need for an EC. It's dated and the conservaderps that support it don't even know the original reason for it. And it was not to give smaller states a bigger voice, as much as they like to pretend it does.

It's funny, they think a system that results in lower voter turnout is somehow better. I wonder if they realize we have the lowest voter turnout because of the EC. Then again, the less voters that come out to vote the better for conservatives. So I guess that's something they like about the EC after all.

A way to make the EC fair would be to balance the number of votes states get based on population. The current system makes individual votes in lesser-populated states carry more weight than votes in highly populated states.

The United States is a federal republic and a constitutional representative democracy. Federal meaning the nation is large enough to make use of a government on a national level. Republic implies we have a strong head of state and elected officials appointed by the people. Constitutional refers to the fact we have a constitution and representative democracy means we have elected officials who represent the people in handling legislative matters.

At the core the United States is exactly that, 50 states united under one constitution unified as a republic that leverages a representative democracy. There is power within each state to help implement the peoples will on a federal level.

Hence the electoral college.

Cry harder.

This. The powers that be knew that there would be riots if they put Hillary in office.

You can blame obama for being so blatant and offensive about forcing his agenda. The left always talks about how WE should make a bipartisan effort, but their party has become so radicalized that they even said that Reagan democrats (center left) are RACISTS! Basically, they said if youre not a far left radical, then youre a racist. They think they should be able to do anything they want and we should just let them do it. I guess I cant blame them after eight years of obama being allowed to have free reign by the rinos.
