Put it this way. If the accusations are proven true, I definitely don't think he should be on there. And it's worth investigating before confirming him, given that there's reason to believe it's not just a spur-of-the-moment thing made up for a political stunt (yes, the timing may be a political stunt, but that doesn't have any impact on the truthfulness of the claim itself).

However, it absoutely should not be handled on the basis of "guilty until proven innocent". Unless it's proven or he confesses, there's not much that can be done.

The Dems had this letter for 6 weeks now. This tells me that they've been investigating it themselves and they have been unable to corroborate it. That's why Feinstein said "I can't say everything is truthful". They know it could be a lie, but they pushed it forward anyway.

And just to say it again, the FBI will not get involved unless Trump ask them to. You know he won't.

Everything comes down to Monday and that will be her last stand. If she doesn't show up, Kavanaugh is going to get confirmation.

Apparently her husband and their therapist can vouch for her telling the story from back in 2011. And Kavanaugh has an old HS friend, Mark Judge, who allegedly was in the room with him at the assault, Judge has written a book about being an alcoholic in HS. And it doesn't help that he paints the two as a couple of frat boys who do what they want, which lends credence to Kavanaugh saying

The rule of thumb is that if you had to choose between hiring a bad candidate and rejecting a good candidate, always good for the latter. As in don't take unnecessary chances when it comes to hiring for a position. We're not hurting for candidates and it's safer if we heavily probe and scrutinize for one that leaves us with no doubts.

IMO, unless they knew for sure it was, bringing it up was still the right thing to do. Though I do agree the delay is a bit iffy.

Still, there is more evidence to suggest that at the very least, the complainant believes the accusation is genuine - now, whether that might be a case of mistaken identity is another question. And to be very clear again here - evidence that the complainant believes it's true, is not the same thing as evidence that it actually is true.

Either way, it's not gonna make much difference. A liberal majority in the midterms is not going to happen, so a right-leaning justice is going to happen either way. The only thing that might change is whether it's Kavanaugh or someone else.
