The betting markets are generally pretty solid about this sort of stuff. When the accustaions first dropped, it only moved odds ~5%. It wasnt until she came forward with notes from her therapist from years ago + passed a lie detector test that odds plunged. As slimy as republicans are, they don't want another Roy Moore scenario.

He outright denied it though.

If he's lying he obviously shouldn't be nominated, and I hope he's not lying. But this is just he said she said. There's no proof either way anymore.

Also note that this could just delay confirmation until after the midterms when republicans no longer have a majority. There are multiple ways this could fall apart, but yes, he will probably get approved. We are going to have an accused rapist deciding women's rights on abortion. The irony.

The accusations are pretty brutal too.

Kavanaugh physically pushed me into a bedroom as I was headed for a bathroom up a short stair well from the living room. They locked the door and played loud music precluding any successful attempt to yell for help.

Kavanaugh was on top of me while laughing with REDACTED, who periodically jumped onto Kavanaugh. They both laughed as Kavanaugh tried to disrobe me in their highly inebriated state. With Kavanaugh's hand over my mouth I feared he may inadvertently kill me.

Apparently she first brought up the allegations to a reporter back before Kavanaugh was actually the nominee (he was just on a list of potential picks). The more details that come out, the more it seems like she isnt bullshitting.

Why do you assume those stories about Trump were bogus?

Because if the stories were true, at least some of the accusers would have made their accusations when the incidents occurred. Instead, they expect us to believe that all the victims waited until years or decades after the fact, then made the accusations within a period of a few weeks of each other (and it just happened to be on the eve of the election, when the accusations could do the most political damage). It doesn't pass the smell test.
