Human beings are composed of physical matter that occupies a space. A workplace can serve as a tiny spot within the observable universe where multiple humanords might share a space and it might be nice to have a heads up if a guy is a sexual predator depending on their history

None of which matters in the slightest in the context of the discussion.

His point was that if there are no laws that require registered sex offenders to inform coworkers of their past crimes, then whether or not said laws exist that require registered sex offenders to inform their neighbors of such doesn't actually apply to a case where we're talking about coworkers and not neighbors.

Now granted, perhaps this means we SHOULD ask whether or not laws should be implemented that DO give coworkers the right to know whether or not the people they work with have a prior history, so they can potentially protect themselves, but that's a different discussion. And involves a lot of complex ideas like just which crimes should count and which shouldn't, whether or not there should ever be an "expiration date" on reputation, and whether or not we even want to have the pretense of reforming criminals via prison time or if we subscribe to the idea that "once a criminal, always a criminal".

Which can then lead to even deeper conversations about things like whether or not constantly treating people like criminals, shaming them, and locking them out of potential jobs or other aspects of life simply encourages them to continue committing their crimes because they no longer give a shit what you think ("If you're going to keep treating me like a criminal, I might as well at least benefit from the crime"), and/or if high recidivism rates mean we need to reform our prison system in some way to actually deter future crime.
