And I still have no fucking clue what I want to do with my life/career. I kind of thought that after 8+ years of service I would finally have an idea of what I wanted to do with my life but Im still as directionless as I was almost 10 years ago.

How the fuck do I figure out what I want to do with my life!?!?!?

How did you guys find one thing and be like Yep thats what Im going to do for the next 40+ years? The concept seems so foreign to me.

people dont do this

they go "well this makes ok money and looks alright, guess I'll do this so I dont starve" and then 5 years later they're working in a completely different field where they get stuck for the rest of their career

I'm 27 and in a career and haven't found that answer either. At this point it's do what you can tolerate for money.

Live off that sweet GI Bill stipend. Work a dumb part time job to supplement your income while you learn to become an accountant.

at least you won't be digging yourself into debt in order to go to school

I'm 28 and finally feel like I'm on a career track that will last me the rest of my life, but it took me 5 years of undergrad, 3 years of working, 2 years of grad school + working to really figure out what I wanted to do

That's not a big deal. And there are a lot of places that just want to see that you have a degree. If you get a degree like something in math, physics or computer science, you could still get a corporate job, a government job, etc. You're not confined to work in those disciplines, but STEM degrees do tend to open more doors.

This but substitute accountant for whatever you want. I got out earlier this year and Im working on getting a job as a police officer then Im going to continue education to either get on a better department or go FBI.

Start doing research on jobs you would like to do then take classes to get there. Once you get your undergrad and if your job isn't to your liking you can always go back to get a graduate or different degree. It should be easier if you go back since you would be making more money and have a more cushie job.
