I remember back in the early days, the English dvz opening that aired on tv always showed Goku with yellow hair at the end. So we all knew his hair would transform at some point

If they hadn't done that it would have been even cooler when it finally happened on the show

That initial transformation is one of the most impressive scenes in the entirety of DBZ if you ask me. I don't think seeing him in yellow hair before that impacted it any less for me. The events that led up to him going Super Sayian and how bad ass they execute the first transformation make it extremely notable.
