The only game I can think of that pulled my emotional chords (but didn't make me shed tears) was the first Red Dead Redemption. Just as Marsden got home, boom.

Are there any other games that can make a player sad? I guess FFVII. Those are the only two.

Wait, I kind of take that back. Far Cry 5's ending was arguably sad, but it actually made me angry instead.

latest game I cried (small tears) at was Ori and the Blind Forest, which I actually feel BAD crying to because it was really cheesy and It didn't even mean anything in the end, cheap AF

Although I will say I actually like or want to cry to emotional moments in things occasionally if they've deserved it.

Several games' stories made me cry.

The most recent game I've played was Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. And yes, I know that game is a hack 'n slash action pseudo-rpg game. Not exactly where you'd first expect to find tearjerker moments.
^
And yes, I'm also aware that this game's characters are hilariously exaggerated; not quite representing the real individuals to the letter (though historical accuracy isn't necessarily the game's intent).

But Ieyasu's "Red Path" ending legit made me shed manly tears yesterday.

There was no game that made me "cry like a baby" but there were some instances when I have shed a few tears.

One example is in Danganronpa 2, the execution scene of Gundham Tanaka. Most of them are just bizarre or more "creepy" than sad, but this one just took the cake, of him putting his four hamsters (Sorry, his four dark devas of destruction) away so they wouldn't get hurt as he's trampled by a bunch of beasts, then looks at his hamsters one more time with a smile and to top it off, angelic critters fly down to carry him to heaven with somber music. A few tears were shed that day.

To The Moon, of course.

A few times in Final Fantasy Adventure, when Amanda gets infected by the Medusa and you have to kill her to stop her from transforming, when Marcie tosses you to safety from the top of the Dime Tower then tells you she cannot jump across, and especially after defeating Julius and you find out the Mana Tree is dying and the Heroine has to sacrifice herself and become the new Mana Tree.

In Final Fantasy Legend, when you find the bomb shelter and an entire family is lying dead inside and the music changes...

Everytime people talk about tragic FF moments all i ever hear is Aeris, Aeris and Aeris. We all knew Zack was gonna die but him goin out in a blaze of glory protecting Cloud who was catatonic then. Witnessing flashbacks while you fight and struggle against an inevitable death.

Man that game is so good! I'm not a fan of the earlier main series Final Fantasy games (almost completely because of the combat system) so, when I saw FF Adventure at a pawn shop years back along with other Game Boy games, I passed on it. Then I saw online that it was actually an action RPG, went back as soon as I could and bought the game. Thank God I did, too, because the remaining GB games were bought up by one person just days later.

I can't recall, although I'm sure a few have had bummer twists. Games in general are kinda bad at tugging at heartstrings because there are certain limitations inherent to the genre and devs tend to avoid downers. One major downer happens in Infamous where no matter what you decide when given the Green Goblin dilemma, your girlfriend dies no matter what because -- for the franchise to work -- they need pre-determined outcomes

It didn't catch lightning in a bottle the same way. It was good, but not as good as To the Moon and I personally didn't find it anywhere near as sad.

Also, maybe it was because TTM conditioned me to look for it, but "The Twist" seemed super obvious this time around.
