And we learned the hard way what happened just over 150 years ago.

The North hated the South for legalizing slave ownership. The South hated the North for not giving them rights from the federal government. The South found productivity in slavery, which fueled their economy. The North found that as a barbaric and dehumanizing practice.

Essentially, it all boiled down to what the Republicans in the North hated about the Democrats in the South, and vice-versa, instead of coming to a common solution to end all of those problems.

You mean that 875,000 of them who died to free them, irrelevant?

Slaves were the hardest hit, due to them being abused by their owners, and blacks did not get full civil rights until 1964 (which why it took that long was completely unjustified). But free blacks were also able to own slaves (such as 40% of slaveowners in New Orleans, were black), but most were too poor to do so.

Where do you get evidence that a situation wasn't that dangerous that can reasonably be gathered in a police confrontation?

Siding with the testimony of somebody with a vested interest in lying about the situation over visual evidence is where it's truly moronic.

Today I learned that criminals are honest and have no interest in lying while police officers are dishonest and lie constantly. Why do criminals garner such sympathy from you? Why do you have such ire for officers who are unable to predict the future?

Are we going to get to the point where I should be fearful any time I get pulled over? After all, you never know, a cop might think I'm reaching for a gun... as I reach for my license and registration that they asked me to get. But, apparently, it's also implied in any police encounter that you aren't supposed to do anything that could be construed as getting a firearm, so... which order do I follow there?

Do you think it helps your arguments to be so hamfistedly obtuse? Or do you genuinely believe that people who were acting in a cooperative and nonthreatening manner get shot constantly by the police? Most people never come anywhere close to risking being shot by the police because they don't start fights with them.

Not trying to get in on this argument just wanted to add my 2 cents on other jobs being more dangerous. Difference is those injuries are almost exclusively accidents whether it be the person's own fault or someone else fucking up or being negligent. With cops much higher risk of the person going out of their way to intentionally harm you.

So statistics on who gets hurt more on what job is kinda moot as its apples to oranges.

Prison guards perhaps have it worse though but its a similar situation to cops where its usually intentional harm
