You would've thought leftists would champion the people saving the incarcerated from the cops/jail by negotiating low bail, but instead they took away that option from everyone and slaughtered a ton of businesses in the name of "helping da poor"

Why is it that leftists always fucking destroy lives when they try to "help da poor"?

Unless California strictly doesn't keep ANYONE in jail before except for murderers/rapists who are at risk of fleeing, this is simply going to make things worse for everyone.

Let's be serious, leftists don't even understand that basic math. They're more liable to say "1+1=5" or some crazy shit like that.

Or need I remind you of Bernie's "free everything" plan that literally couldn't sustain itself without culminating into catastrophic collapse?

"Am I sad? I'm very sad. I'm not sad for Wendy, the bail bondwoman. I'm sad for California, because we're going to lose our Eighth Amendment right to bail."

That's a hell of a stretch to claim that the 8th amendment forbids a jurisdiction from waiving bail.

they don't negotiate low bail, you pay them a portion of your bail upfront and they use their money to pay your whole bail, which they get back when you go to court and they keep the fee

I'm kind of skeptical of this undefined pretrial risk assessment but the idea that bail bondsman are helping the poor is a bit silly in this context.

California has taken a few missteps on criminal justice reform, but this isn't one of them. We need to stop incarcerating non-violent, low-risk, non-convicted defendants and we need to stop ruining the lives of people who commit victimless "crimes." SB10 accomplishes the former.

The company that owns the store. If you don't accept that a company itself can be a victim, then their owners definitely can, so they'd be the victims in this case.

A victimless crime would be one that literally has no victim at all (or only victims that consent to being victims), for example, posession / use of cannabis.

Why do liberals insist on trying to qualify crimes and criminals? "Oh it's a VICTIMLESS crime so it's ok" or "Well that's an UNJUST law, so breaking it shouldn't matter".

What ever happened to just "don't break the law"?

No, I think they're spot on with that there are such problems with some laws, and that some criminals definitely are more dangerous than others - letting a murderer back on the streets is a horrible idea; letting a drink-driver back out (as long as they're not allowed to drive in the interim) isn't really that big a deal.

Where they are wrong, is that they take this to ridiculous extents. They'll claim things like laws against theft or vandalism (usually right after they've had a protest where lots of that occurs) are "unjust laws" or "victimless" when they're not. Also, the very obvious racial element - the same crime, to them, will be an "unjust law" when a minority is arrested for it, but perfectly fine when it's a non-minority. Their base idea is fine, they just apply it to things it shouldn't be applied to.

Drug usage, on its own, is an example of a victimless crime in many cases. Theft and property damage victimize the owner of said property.

What if they grew it themself? Or bought it in a state where it's legal and snuck it back home? Or bought it off a friend who grows, with no gang connections? Hard drugs almost always have gang connections, but it's far from impossible to acquire cannabis without any gang involvement whatsoever.

I'm not defending the plastic straw ban. I'm talking about criminal justice reform and laws of real consequence.
