Absolutely not. An upvote system would effectively censor posts that didn't get as much approval from the majority. That's what I like about this site. Everyone gets a shot.
Everyone has an unpopular opinion of some kind. That's not to say that that opinion is not valid or that it should be censored. (Obviously if it's blatantly offensive that's another thing, and can just be reported.)
The "silent majority" can grow some balls and actually say something if they have a problem. It's the internet. You're anonymous anyway. If this "silent majority" can't even communicate on the internet then they have some serious issues they need to work out instead of passive aggressively downvoting everything without posting an actual legitimate argument. USE YOUR WORDS.

But they are. And you don't know if they are showing any input, since you probably wouldn't know who upvoted. And if you would know who upvoted, then they probably wouldn't upvote. So, I don't see how we are actually knowing if we're seeing input from them or not.
