I never know either, so I end up wearing hats. Especially now that it's thinning.
I've gone to barbers and told them to do whatever, aside from shaving my head, and they all end up just giving me a very basic hair cut.

I wear hats when I'm too lazy to get a haircut, cause otherwise hair all up in my eyes.

Your hair looks way better the way it is now than the style you posted.

Your current hair has staying power meaning you probably won't look at it and cringe in a decade if that matters to you. I know parted is probably in style now though but it kind of fell out for more than a decade, maybe a sign that it's not the best style.

TC, just go to a hair stylist. Not a barber shop, not one of those "sports" haircut places, etc. Go to an actual stylist that you'd think would typically for girls. They give the best haircuts imo. Just ask what you can do for basic upkeep/trimming so that you can wait a couple months before going back.

Either way, your hair doesn't look terrible in the pic you posted. Just use some wax or pomade and forget about it.
