I wanted to keep that other topic I made alive but I forgot

Have to be honest, it ruined me a bit. Got to me for some reason. It crammed a lot in but it was really good. I don't even consider myself a big fan of the show, I certainly haven't seen every episode. Maybe around half of them at most. But between that and, like, clips and picking stuff up, I knew enough to appreciate the finale.

So I haven't watched much adventure time but I recall that the series possibly takes place ina post-apocalyptic/nuclear war earth, is that ever confirmed true?

Can you elaborate, if possible? Because I"m actually super interested but don't have the means or desire to actually watch the whole thing. If it's a really convoluted thing though and you aren't feeling it no worries.

The lore is beyond weird and almost doesn't work if you explain it textually - it's kind of so bizarre it just looks inaccessible.

I guess the basics are that there was this war called the "Great Mushroom War", and magic is also a thing. And I think some combination of that is the reason why there's stuff like anthropomorphic candy (because it mutated) and shapeshifting dogs. But I'm not an expert.

This stuff doesn't really start to get a big part in the show until like...idk, season 5. A lot of it before that is more self-contained adventures.

I watched it

Very good way to end such an iconic animated series.

There was another topic? Whoops. I would've kept it alive if I knew about it.

Yeah apparently quite a bit of stuff was left..not completely resolved, but there's a lot of fucking stuff, so idk what they were supposed to do

Besides, not everything has to be

It stayed true to the show

Couple of villains were ignored, Finn had some love arcs apparently left completely alone, the Lich wasn't mentioned at all, idk

Yeah it was kind of weird that the only one of Finn's love arcs that got resolved canonically was his first one via confirmation that PB's love for him would always be platonic because she was into Marcey all along as many fans speculated. BTW I read somewhere that the only reason they pulled the trigger on DAT SMOOCH in the finale instead of somewhere in the middle was fear of premature cancellation due to speculation that audiences weren't ready for that kind of revelation years ago, when AT was still at its popularity peak. Happy twenty gay-teen y'all!

Anyhoo I still don't know if Finn and Huntress are still a thing, or if Flame Princess is officially dating Cinnamon Bun and if there's no chance in flaming hell of FlameFinncess and that stinks. Apparently the series will continue in comic form so there's that I suppose.

But I guess there just wasn't time

Finale was okay I guess but yeah it feel pretty incomplete and off at points, particularly how Finn and Jake themselves seemed to get heavily sidelined compared to the others when they are the main fucking characters. Finn didn't really do anything aside from the whole Fern thing.

Also the Gumbald resolution annoyed me. They seem to go for the redemption then all of a sudden Aunt whatsherface shows up, gets him turned back into a punch bowl and takes over...and PB is just kind of okay with that (even though the Aunt is possibly even more treacherous). It would have been far better for Gumbald to face the eldritch monster as part of his redemption and it just kind of felt like a waste of time the way they did it.

Simon getting a relatively bad end again sucks and judging by some of the stuff that followed I wouldn't be surprised if he was the figure in the opening spying on the Ice Thing. He is probably still around after 1000 years due to Betty's wish and trying to harness the crown power again to get her back (leading to another cycle of suffering involving them).

Lemongrab was great overall (his letter was probably the funniest moment)

The montage at the end was also kind of neat showing the humans coming to Ooo and such. Still kinda lame they didn't really hint at anything between Finn and HW during that after going on about it prior to the finale. Its sort of just left up in the air while PB x Marcy suddenly gets a scene (again back to Finn getting sidelined when he is supposed to be the main character). Hell EVEN LEMONGRAB GOT SOME ACTION!

One of the best things from the finale is the full version of the song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwEieg-tFos" data-time="

John DiMaggio at the tail end of the song tugged at the heart.

As for the opening stuff I wouldn't mind if they ever brought it back and went off the adventures of the new duo. Shermy reminded me of Season 1 Finn and they seem to have a lot of lore on that time period going on like Charlie's son (the dog shooting at Ice Thing), epic giant SP, and all the other stuff hidden in the opening.

Supposedly there is going to be a comic continuation of the events after the finale in October so who knows what will come of that.

I actually liked Finn being actively shunted in favour of Ice King towards the end there. The shit going down there was way out of Finn's league.

When I said in the OP that the episode ruined me, I was specifically talking about the song.

I watched Sugar singing it at the Comic-Con panel and DiMaggio is sitting next to her absolutely bawling

I mean sure but I feel he should have done more in the actual fight and got more acknowledgement during the aftermath. Personally would have liked more of a battle on the inside of the monster while the fodder deal with the enemy fodder on the outside. Also have more smaller minions so not everyone is useless

Could have had it like

PB, Marceline, Gumbald / Aunt in mech, the villain fodder who didn't do anything, Lemongrab, LSP, CK fodder, and a few other VS the giant (which should have been a giant monstrosity of fused Lich Jake Arms (from back when that happened) for one final showdown and a bunch of undead fodder.

Then the rest of the gang (IK, HW, Finn, Fern, Betty, Jake, FP, etc) go inside of GOLB and fight its insides and hold their own a little but still get BTFO when facing the true final boss and that is where Betty's plan would have kicked in

They should have cut out 90% of the dream sequence (seriously that could have all been summed up and solved by just showing the PB + Gumbald part) and then use the rest of the time for the big final battle + aftermath.

I was also surprised it didn't show a scene of Finn moving in with / hanging with HW given Come Along With Me's lyrics and where her home is located (come along with me, to a cliff under a tree). Thought they were setting that up. The town by the sea part probably references the humans coming back I guess.

The most underrated part of this finale was Maja just exploding, dying brutally and unceremoniously after years of buildup, which was then never mentioned again. That cracked me up.

I liked the part when Betty used the crown. Really sad end to her character arc, but I figured it couldn't end in happiness once the magic got involved

I really liked it and found it very satisfying. It's kinda understandable that they couldn't conclude everything. There was just too many plot threads they had started.
