Most of the jokes fell flat - the only one I remember laughing at was Kristen Wiig getting under Andy Garcia's skin by calling him the Mayor from Jaws. The group chemistry never really gelled, though McCarthy and Wiig's had some unrealized potential. McKinnon and Jones kind of do their normal SNL comedy and it's serviceable. They're actually funny at times. Wig plays the straight man and isn't really meant to be the funny one. She's not particularly good at it though so the others don't have a lot to play off of. This comes across a lot in homages to Ray and Peter dymanic. Both McCarthy and Wig fall flat. Hemsworth has one joke that was funny but then they run it into the ground. Watch this movie to see Kate McKinnon be weird and Leslie Jones be big and loud. They're goofy and fun. It's legitimately not funny aside from a chuckle here and there, several sections are very obviously trying way too hard at being zany and missing the mark entirely, the homages and cameos are usually shoed in, the ending payoff was entirely not earned (their training shows them go from fuck ups to slightly less of a fuckup and then they suddenly are masters) and even for a modern film the product placements are blatantly obvious. If it wasn't a Ghostbusters film, it'd be a completely forgettable film. Wasn't horrible but wasn't really good either.
