I had stopped at some point in S6, so I've been catching up on the last few seasons recently in preparation for this. Just got to S9 so two more to go. I don't think I'll make it in time without some serious binging but whatever.

This show has been such a wild ride. It's kind of lost its original magic as it's delved more and more into its own lore, but even in this back half of episodes there's gold shining through. I really liked the Islands miniseries in particular. Still, watching it as it aired was an experience and I'm kind of sad to see it go. It feels like the end of an era for boundary-pushing cartoons.

idk man, it feels like the last few years have seen it quietly end. It's not really like a huge THE FINAL SEASON deal where people see the end and feel like they want more. It's like it has tapered off.

I'm not at all ruling it out, I guess there's a good chance of it coming back someday, but the way it's tailed off gives it almost a proper end point.

I don't even watch the show. I've seen like 3 or 4 episodes maybe. That just seems to be a trend lately.

The only cartoons Ive seen recently are TMNT 2012 and Gumball.

I used to watch it for the first like 2 seasons and then stopped

which is actually kind of a shame, because I saw some later episodes got a lot better once they started expanding the lore of the world (in particular, the episode where Marceline and Ice King sing together is outstanding) but there was just too much goofy filler in between for me to stay invested long enough

I might go back sometime and maybe try to find the best like 20 episodes and just watch those, unless later seasons are consistently good

If you don't like wacky boy and dog adventures, I'm not sure if the show is for you. That feels like the soul of the show to me and the occasional lore is just a bonus.
