I did that once on a nest of baby bunnies. It didn't hurt them but the next day there were blood trails everywhere and they were gone. Cat or something must have gotten them overnight.

The parent was watching and when i realized what happened the mom came running. Luckily I only clipped one. It was way more stressful than I thought.

I must say that I have to agree.

Lawnmowers don't exactly produce that much suction. (and even if it did, suction isn't some magical force that will just instantly suck out the entire burrow's contents at once)

It seems weird that a bunny (or anything else) would exit its burrow at the moment the mower is passing right over it.

Lawnmowers don't exactly produce that much suction.

The flat blade ones do, to produce adequate airflow to forcefully eject the clippings out of the side of the mower.

The required force for sucking grass clippings is over a magnitude of difference to the force needed to suck a bunny.

The rocks at least are on the surface of the ground.

Still at least one magnitude of difference relative to sucking a bunny out of a burrow.

I came across a dismembered rabbit hind-leg once in the middle of a snowy road. mildly disturbing, but I don't have much sympathy for wild rabbits. I see them as basically mobile meals, (not that I eat rabbit).

I doubt the rabbits get sucked up by the blade, they just panic from the noise and try to leap away out of their burrow and end up in the blades
