I can have it.

Apparently it's very slow and it's got something called a kernel data Inpage error that shows up at random times preventing him from doing anything. Can I do this without spending money?

I just tried a system restore and it says there's a problem with local disk C and to repair, currently doing that now to see what happens.

He wants you to delete the child porn. And then when you give it back to him and the feds catch him he's going to blame it his friend that "fixed" it for him.

You'd probably need a bootable usb with windows in it. Google and Torrent is your friend.

This is taking way longer than I assumed it would It's been almost an hour of looking at this

Software is being installed

When complete, your system may automatically restart. Please do not turn off your computer during this process.

I think I should have done this later on but I'm busy tomorrow so it's now or never.

Well that didn't go so well

The good news is that everything that once was on it is gone

The bad news is that apparently it was incomplete

If you're doing this, do it via the clean install media, not via Recovery Mode. Trust me.

When it asks about partitioning, delete all existing partitions, then just install to the now-empty drive.

Details? Surely there's an option to repair your install on the bootable SD card.

It might be worth buying a new hard drive for the computer. You can do this remote install thing on a new hard drive, presumably.

Like I'm not as knowledgeable as I could be, but it sounds like something could be wrong with the drive itself. If you buy a new hard drive, then things should go a lot more smoothly - and on top of that, you can upgrade to whatever size you want, and not have to stick with whatever size the laptop came with.
