Probably fine if you enjoy driving and can be patient when dealing with people.

Not my kind of job, but if you have the personality for it and live in or are close to the right kind of area you can probably make a decent income with it.

No, it's a terrible job. Some people can probably make a living wage from, but you shouldn't count on it for more than just a side income and there are plenty of issues regarding ride-sharing services, not the least of which is the fact that you're stuck putting added wear&tear on your car.

The only time it really makes sense would be if you're going in the same direction anyway or if you dropped somebody off someplace and just want to kill time.

They're always going to have openings because there's no added cost to them as employers and most people eventually realize that it's just not worth it.

Yeah, it's not a bad job if you're in the right area.

I did it on the side for a while. I would say overall it's not worth it. Some nights you'll do pretty well but most nights I was left feeling like it wasnt worth the gas mileage and wear and tear on my car

It's an ok job as a side-job or if you are young and still in school or something like that. It's definitely not something you would want to make into a career.

Wrong. They have to do a multitude of background checks, and in a lot of states you have to have your car inspected. Uber pays for this initial inspection.

So to say that it costs them nothing is patently false.

Okay, so there's minimal cost. The fact remains that they *always* seem to be hiring.

New York is also passing (passed?) legislation limiting the total number of RideShare drivers active to prevent over saturation of the market.

Sure, but that's not Uber's choice. That's just NYC's (iirc, I *think* it's only NYC trying to do it, and it's mostly to protect their taxi industry because they make money on cabs but they don't make that same kind of money on rideshares)
