Silicon Knights' President Denis Dyack had a huge ego that was somewhat reigned in when he was working with Nintendo and Konami. But when he saw how underpowered the Wii was, he infamously burned his bridges with Nintendo, and that was the start of the decline for SK.

Nintendo owns the Eternal Darkness IP, but they don't see interested in doing anything with it aside from renewing its copyright every few years.

Continuously making vague hints toward a sequel but never delivering on it. Leaving the tiniest bit of the door open to make fans hopeful of something that will never happen.

They're wearing down our sanity in real life. This is the sequel. So fucking meta.

Silicon Knights spent a few years developing Too Human, a game that ended up being an infamous turd. They decided to sue Epic Games over the use of Unreal Engine, arguing that Epic had special access to functions that other developers didn't, and that it was unfair to license out their engine like that if nobody else can get the same amount of use out of it.

During this time, Silicon Knights developed their own game engine to run Too Human. But what happened is that they copied lines of code verbatim from Unreal Engine - stealing copywrited code from Epic and passing it off as their own work. Epic counter-sued, and they were awarded millions of dollars in damages. What also happened is that any unsold copies of Too Human that were left on store shelves were ordered to be destroyed.

That's what happened to Silicon Knights. They pumped millions of dollars into a shit game, got mad at Epic Games because the project was taking ages and the game sucked, proceeded to use plagiarized code from Unreal Engine to make their own game engine and were successfully sued for copyright infringement.

Pretty much it went like this Silicon Knights insulted Epic Games and sued epic games whose engine was used for all Sillicon Knights games during its end. Its sort of like what Battlegrounds did to epic games due to fortnight.

Epic Games Countered sued and won and now all Silicon Knights games well the later ones are not legal to be sold or resold and must be destroyed. Including their X-Men RPG.

Then they tried to rebrand and one of the heads of the studio was caught with child porn and yeah that was the end of Silicon Knights.

Denis tried to make a new company but his support for gamer gate has publishers afraid to touch him
