-When you can't skip a cut-scene and it's right before an area you need to replay a few times, or even many times. I remember an old LOTR game was terrible about that, I never could get over it, pretty much quit

When I'm playing a game with instant respawns, like a beat 'em up or a shooter, and I come back to beat the boss in one hit. It's the worst feeling in any game. 9 times out of 10, I shut the game off when that happens.

It's like, the boss beat me in a clean fight and I'm handed the victory on a respawn. It's like the boss is saying, "Fuck you, I beat you. You don't get a second chance. Okay, you want to win? Fine. *lays down* Ugh, I'm beaten. Go on, you're the big winner. We can't have Mr. Hero lose a close fight, can we? Hes gotta move on to the next stage because he had an extra life."

It completely ruins the fun of victory and a bad victory is worse than defeat.

Time limits
When you always have to keep moving progressing, and there's no option to keep characters in NG+. An example would be Super Robot Wars. In most SRW games there aren't free stages; you just keep advancing the story. And unfortunately for me, one of my favorite units, the Lancelot Albion, is only acquired in like the second/third to the last stage. So I could only use it for a few stages before I had to play through the entire game again <_<
Input-reading AI in fighters that just turtle all day
Having to unlock stuff offline in a game where I want to play online
Fire Emblem probability. I remember in one time in the arena I missed a 97% hit, then got killed by a 1% crit.

If I wanted victory handed to me, I'd punch in a cheat code or use save states. Hell. Why bother? Just watch a video on YouTube and say that you won because you played the video.

In video games with instant respawns, I honestly feel that bosses should regain a bit of health if you die. At least if they're on their last leg. There's really no reason why you should be handed victory because you have an extra life remaining.

Usually I agree, but I feel like some games need them. Like people complained about XCOM 2, but it was the only logical response to the overpowered strategy of Turtling in the first game.

Anyway, linear games and 'narrative driven' games. If there is more cutscene than gameplay, it's not fun for me. I don't want to be force fed the story, especially when video game writing is generally a much lower tier than other media. Games biggest advantage are that they are interactive and people can experience things differently, so why ruin that?

Limited inventory systems and they ways they get exploited.
In any other game 99 potions takes up 1 slot out of infinite, but if the inventory is limited; each potion takes up its own slot. The only way to make a Hunger system viable, is to limit the amount of food you can carry. And of course theres Weapon Durability to round out the trifecta of features in a limited inventory.

Honestly, I interpret multiplayer trophies as just the game's way of saying don't bother with any trophies.

Except in the rare case where the multiplayer trophies are, like, play X number of matches, instead of defeat every enemy four times before any other player can get a single kill on a Tuesday on that map literally nobody votes for when it is both sunny and raining in Santa Fe and the enemies all spawned as women.
