Rogan is being serious with the overall sentiment. Sometimes people adopt terms that they previously ridiculed as a means of saying "If you have to use this word THIS would be a legit example of it." "Triggered" is a common one. I doubt he literally thinks she should get promoted though.

Homer Hickam is a NASA legend. The fact this person was so enveloped in their life to not recognize this in their chosen field is a bit narcissistic.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that kind of celebration and "excitement." We all have personality and you'd be surprised at the number of professionals who can come off similarly...but the point being is they don't do it publicly and wearing a sign of their professional "hat".

She literally references NASA then starts cussing and disrespects the biggest dude in her field unwittingly. They don't want that kind of association to their brand. It shows she hasn't done her homework. It's kind of flighty and there are probably thousands of applicants who wouldn't have made that mistake so why her?

That being said, Homer himself didn't think it was in terribly bad taste either. His "language" comment was just giving her a heads-up NASA themselves might find it distasteful. He was warning her not in a paternalistic manner, but like a bro looking out. Like when you're shit talking your boss to your friend and they go "psst" while nodding behind you.

It wasn't until her friends started TAGGING NASA while complaining about Homer's "condescension" that NASA even got wind of it and fired her. THEN, he went and helped her get the job back because he thought it was unfair.
