I have PlayStation Vue and it's expensive, and they just raised rates. So I'm thinking of switching to Sling blue.

How is it? Is the DVR reliable?

Sling has been damn good for me. Perfectly satisfied for the price, and so is the rest of my family. What do you want to know exactly?

If I have something set to record on DVR, can I start watching it from the beginning while its still recording ? Or do I have to wait until its done recording to be able to watch it ?

Have you used it on the Amazons fire stick ?

I just ordered some Rokus to make the switch, I'm going full orange and blue though. That combined with the internet bill is still far cheaper than what I pay for cable and internet now.

On a side note.. I had an offer to try Hulu+Live for 7 days. I gave it a shot just to see how it was, but Hulu doesnt have AMC (I dont give a shit about Walking Dead, but I do want access to Better Call Saul) and I didnt think the interface was that great so Im going to stick with Sling for now.

Sing is far from perfect, but as a cable substitute with Live TV it does the job.

Depends how good your bandwidth and router are.

My only complaint about Sling is that they recently dropped El Rey for some reason. I live in Austin, El Rey should be obligatory.

There have been a couple instances where the DVR has not recorded a new episode of a show although the setup was correct. Also, you have to delete shows 1-by-1 from the DVR which can be a bit cumbersome, and there have been instances where Ive tried to delete something from my TV via Roku and it wont let me. I had to go into Sling via my phone to get the delete to work.

So I guess you could say I have more issues with the DVR than the Blue service itself.

Depends how good your bandwidth and router are.

And which package you choose.

I've used it a bunch and always like it. Using it now to get ready for football and hockey. Haven't used the DVR on it but it seems legit. Think it's either $5 or $10 a month for that.

I use it on a fire stick on one tv and it's been good. Also, if you have a fire stick and sling you shouldn't need cable at all. Hell, just the fire stick alone is good enough to replace cable.

I think Hulu is better. It has a better UI, plus it has CBS (which you have to pay for All Access if you want that and Sling) and CW. I'm only missing a few shows on a few channels with Hulu. But it's like one show per channel. I'm also missing NFL Network but I only really need that during preseason.

I tried Sling twice last year and Hulu won both times.

Really? Wow... that channel was one reason I was considering it but Netflix already has Lucha Underground.

Nah... Hulu really helped me cut down on the amount of apps I use. Also, my Xbox is 100% of my entertainment when I'm home. Also, most of the on demand content is commercial free, something else Sling doesn't have.

Sports

I can watch all the sports I want with Hulu Live TV. Just not preseason games that air on NFL Network (for now).

$55/month but I pay to skip those dreaded commercials on my DVR.

If you already have regular Hulu and are considering a live TV service, Hulu with Live TV will save you money, since you're already paying for it anyway.

Well, yeah, I wanted more channels and local channels, and I hate having to sit through commercials. The basic Hulu Live TV service is $40 per month.
