Tag anyone else I'm forgetting please, and anyone else who wants to talk about movies, hop on in, tell me your favorites.

I made the unfortunate mistake of seeing Slenderman with some friends. Worst movie I've seen this year. Holy fuck, it wasn't even the good kind of bad horror movie. At least Truth or Dare was entertainingly bad. This film was boring bad, which is the worst thing a horror movie can be. It didn't even have any good jump scares, which while I'm not a fan of, at least it's something.

Eh, IDK about that. July was kind of weak, but we're starting to get more good stuff back in, August's a lot better. Eighth Grade was good, Crazy Rich Asians was good. BlackkKlansman I still need to see, but it looks really good. I've also heard decent things about Christopher Robin.

I still haven't seen Ready Player One. I've heard it was fine, but that it's worth watching more for the references and visuals than the story.

IMHO the last 4 go:

8 > 6 > 7 > 5 309

However I am somewhat biased against 5 because it used to be the only DVD of the Harry Potter movies I owned, so it's the one I saw the most and I eventually got sick of it. Definitely not a shot at the quality of the film.

I had to cancel my moviepass. I was willing to stick it out through the limiting of movies, the potential price raise, everything, but my GF and I were gonna go see Eighth Grade, saw an available showtime on the app, went down to the theater, and by the time we got there, MoviePass no longer had ANY showtimes available. That was enough BS to push me over.

Inside Out (2015)
This was a pleasant surprise! The last Pixar movie that I really liked was Up, and while I havent really disliked any, I feel like their output this decade has been generally pretty average outside their shorts, but I enjoyed it quite a bit! Surprisingly downbeat tone for most of the movie, which I felt was pretty ambitious for a movie aimed at a younger audience. The emotional parts felt actually organic - an element I feel has been missing from most of Pixars movies this decade. The Minnesota references were a nice bonus for lifelong residents like myself, too.

I wouldnt quite put it in the same ranks as Finding Nemo or Ratatouille, but imo it easily earns the title for Pixar movie of the decade (though to be fair I havent seen Brave, Monsters University or Coco yet). Also the casting was phenomenal, even by Pixar standards! 8/10

Also watched The Kid (1921) a few days ago. Review coming... whenever.

I adore INside Out. Honestly, it's my favorite Pixar movies. Very few movies tackle stuff like depression, the death of innocence/childhood, and the general emotional turmoil that happens as a kid, let alone in a damn Pixar movie, and they handled it very well.

Just watched The Conjuring 2. I liked it a lot, honestly probably better than the first one. The CG was a little rough, but it wasn't too distracting, and it made me pretty hype to see The Nun in a couple weeks.

sorry, I haven't really been visiting this topic since I've been re-watching Breaking Bad, and haven't seen any movies in a while.

anyway, i just felt like it was too similar to other movies like it, of business executives walking a "gray line", and idk if it handled any part of the story well

I guess I will jump into this since I watch more movies than anybody.

My summer break just ended but I ended up watching 248 movies this summer, breaking my previous summer record of 227 set last year.

So far I have watched 418 movies this year. My record for a year is 517 set last year, so I am on a pretty good pace to beat that.

Last movie I watched was Summer of '84. I liked it, give it a 7/10 but I was really surprised how little it tried to cash in on 80s nostalgia since I assumed that was the whole point. There really aren't that many references to 80s things.

See, I liked the concept and the voice made it unnerving, but IDK what it was but the creature's motions just didn't feel very fluid to me. To be fair, I was also watching it on a laptop and I know the director explicitly stated that it's a film he wanted people to see on the big screen, but still.
