Um...at a grocery store like Safeway or Albertson's. I don't see that option.

combination of normal and discount. i have a QFC less than 1/2 a mile and i go there 2-3 times a week.

trader joes i have about 3 miles from me and go there about twice a month

i also have an IGA about 1.5 miles and i go there about once a week. they have a good deli.

edit: and winco. they are like between discount and warehouse almost. i go there about every 2 months for durable goods since i don't have a Costco card.

I almost always go to Walmart

I just can't justify going anywhere else. Almost every single item that I buy weekly costs more at other stores in my area, including Target, Kroger, and especially Tom Thumb. In many cases, a lot more. Even when it's the same brand and same size item.

It's not as if the Walmart I go to is trashy either, it's in a nice part of town. On top of that I almost always go early in the morning because I'm up anyway and it allows me to avoid long lines, most of those other stores aren't open as early as I would like them to be.

I go to a discount store that has food that is slightly out of date. This works well with boxed and dry goods and helps reduce overall food waste. The prices are also heavily discounted for niche organic items that don't fly off of the shelf, so that's always a plus. For everything else (like fresh foods) I'll go to a regular supermarket like Giant Eagle.

That would be Vons...

And no, Trader Joe's is not what I'd call a discount store. Have you ever even been in one?

I shop at Sprouts, Ralph's, Trader Joe's, Vons, Whole Foods, Target, Hmart, Zion, Grocery Outlet... Wherever has what I need. Oh, and how could I forget Costco? Most common are the first three though.

I still miss Wegmans from when I lived in New York, though, despite having all these options in California.

Aldi is basically a Trader Joes rebranded and discounted. IIRC they get a lot of Trader Joes overstock and sell it so it doesn't go to waste.

I still prefer Schnucks, but Dierbergs are pretty good too. We have one of each less than 10 minutes away from home. Whatever my family can't get super cheap at Wal-Mart, we compare prices at those two and buy from the one that's cheaper at the time.
