tbh, I've never worried about advertisers having my info because they don't seem to really use it with any sort of intelligence. Because I frequently google things to fact-check them if I'm unsure of something, I constantly get ads (mostly on my phone because it doesn't have an ad-blocker installed) with zero relevance to my life, including most recently for a DUI lawyer (great for somebody who doesn't drink in the first place)

All I get are alcohol ads on YouTube. I don't even drink so I don't know why that's all I get. I don't search for alcohol on Google or watch alcohol related channels.

I had to upgrade to the commercial free subscription because they started advertising alcohol ads. I used to love streaming because I never got any but now that they have them I had to get rid of the ads.

tbh, I largely wish that the targeting *was* better since I'd like to see ads for stuff I might want or use. When I have been shown movie commercials, I'll usually sit through the whole thing once. I've been seeing a few of the Happy Time Murders (or whatever) ads which had originally interested me but I had forgotten was a thing. Granted, I *still* won't see it in theaters but it gets me interested in case it shows up on a streaming service I use.
