They really need to give you some higher block cards. Some of the attacks are like 6x12, which is 72 damage. My entire HP might be around 80, and the highest block card I have is jump which gives you 12 Defense or something like that. And let's say that I get lucky and have 5 AP to spend during the turn, that still only blocks 5 of the hits, so the 12 is still going to hit you no matter what.

And like I said, that's if you're lucky and have that much AP let alone 5 Jump cards

I just don't get it. I think you should be able to upgrade cards more than once, I think that will help solve this issue.

I've found that the cards you get dealt on the first floor will set up the 'theme' of your game, and that will determine how you defend yourself later on. Ironclad gets Barricade? Gonna be a Barricade run. Silent gets After Image? Hope you get a Shiv run. Defect gets Frost orbs? Gonna be a Frost Turtle.

I tend to make my decks too large as well. I can't help it. I see a fun card, I want to take it.

Don't feel too bad, my win ratio was only like 10% when I still played, although most losses were to the final bosses so no shame there.

I think the biggest problem is most players probably aren't aggressive enough, especially with Iron Clad. You definitely want to take on as many elites as you can on the first & second floors.

A lot of the game is learning at least general enemy patterns as well; such as the fact that the birdmen on the first floor raise their strength every turn, so target them first.

First 3~5 battles actually should be enough to tell you which deck the game is giving you.* If you can't recognize combos that quickly; then go to the glossary in the main menu and look at the cards for a while, stare at'em, read'em, from top to bottom and bottom to top. You don't have to memorize them but try to learn enough so that you know what cards work together just by looking at their artwork; without reading them anymore.

*Also pay attention to the relic you get from your first elite; it might tell you what deck to build as well.

Oh, I just got an "awesome" Relic that heals me 2 whole HPs when the combat starts. No, not at the start of each round where that might be a little helpful, just an extra 2hp healed in a game where people can do 7-54 damage

I really think they should give you an option to take an AP increase over a card when you beat the boss of each floor. That and let us upgrade cards more than once. I should haven't to burn all 3 AP to get 15 fucking Block when the attack is about to do 18x3 or some shit.

Edit -

I just got Searing Blow as the first drop! Time to hunt down camp sites to upgrade the shit out of it

Terrible card, almost one of the worst. At least it's not Clash--

fantastic Clash deck

That's an oxymoron.

Your problem is clearly that you're taking horrible cards, and you're probably not skipping cards when you should be. Clash should never ever be chosen.

Would you at least explain why?

Searing Blow has carried me to Floor 3 before because of it getting upgraded to do really good damage. Just Block what you can, ditch all the other attacks, keep the deck thin, and do big damage when it comes up in rotation.

But that was a lucky run when I got to upgrade it a lot, as well as got rid of the Strike cards

I literately have no clue what cards I should be looking out for. I skip a TON of cards, but then I have nothing to use and I get smoked by people because I simply can't Block that much damage with 3 And really low level Blocks

As for Clash, I had three of them and 1 Block card. So I was always doing damage, and as you know, Clash is costs 0 if all three are in my hand, that's a lot of damage without using any AP.

But I need to know what cards to look out for. Also, I haven't unlocked everything either. I still have 3 unlocks for this character.

It doesn't help that you can only delete one fucking card at the shop

Thin decks are very temperamental and a bad idea for new players. They're extremely vulnerable to status cards and curses. Clash in particular stops working as soon as you get cursed or wounded. It's damage is also pretty pathetic for the crazy restriction it places on you.

Upgrading Searing Blow means you aren't upgrading a ton of other useful cards, and you're missing out on relics because you're seeking as many campfires as possible.

You probably want to aim for 30-35 cards or so.

Ironclad wants to gets its block from Shrug it Off (the ~third best block card in the game), True Grit, Feel No Pain, and Metallacize. Impervious is your emergency option (it's a very powerful card, but you can only use it once per combat).

Your best attacks are Whirlwind, Uppercut, Pommel Strike, Heavy Blade (when you have support), Headbutt, and various multi-hit attacks. Cleave and Thunderclap are mediocre compared to Whirlwind, but AoE is really important early on, so you'll probably grab one or both unless the competing cards are so much stronger.

Scaling is very straightforward for Ironclad, you get strength. Demon Form, Inflame, Spot Weakness. Double Tap to dip into Heavy Blade/Whirlwind again for free. Offering to have a really big turn and dig for cards (there is a reason they keep nerfing it). Feed to build up a giant HP pool off trash mobs. Barricade can be insanely strong but it's really hard to get rolling.

You can be a bit riskier going for act 1 elites because Ironclad's starting relic is broken. Depending on the map layout, you may be able to do all of them without needing to rest. If you don't have any crucial card upgrades, don't be afraid to rest if it means you can do an extra elite.

I don't know any of the names.

One of the ones I like is not losing your Block at the end of the turn, which I take when I get that 40 Block card. Anything that might give me another AP so I can use two 2ap cards. I don't know if it was a boss one, but I just had one that gave me 1Stg/1Block when I used three attack cards in a row.

I'll try to pay attention and write some of this stuff down

I'm kind of surprised you died to that as Ironclad, basically all it does is deal damage.

The only obviously bad cards I see are Clash (God dammit), Fire Breathing, and Dual Wield. You don't want to to take those. What I don't see is block. Apparitions are good, but not a complete replacement.

Broken Crown is a terrible first boss relic though because it completely kills your ability to make a deck outside of what shops offer. I'd only take it from the first boss if I was desperate for energy.

No, this game is cheep

Please tell me advice against The Elite that gets stronger with every Block? Depending on my Cards and Character, that might be 30% if the cards. So I just have to take huge damage to the face while I might do like 20-30 to his 200hp

This is the first floor

I know Im messing up, but I dont see the solution. I hate to sound like DSP, but there was nothing I could do! Lol

Also on the first floor - The 5 blobs with around 15 hp. Fuck that fight. Sometimes you jus dont have an attack that hits everyone and theyre all hitting you for 7-8 each and you can only focus Fire one of them down with 3 cards with the Wizard guy unless you take the chance your bolt with hit the one you Slashed twice

PS, fuck there not being a confirmation meassage. Discarding potions, picking the wrong relic my a simple misclicked and no way to back out the moment you do it

That's kind of the plan, yeah. Act 1 elites can be risky because your deck is shitty and that guy can wail on you. Ironclad beats him to a pulp with vulnerable and has passive healing on his relic, so he has a pretty easy time. That guy is terrifying as Silent though, to the point where opting out of fighting some of the act 1 elites is a good idea.

If you don't mind cheesing the game a little, you can actually save and quit at any point during a fight/shop/event and resume from the start. It might not be a bad idea if you're struggling to learn which plays are good and bad, because you can try taking a different approach to a fight.

So I finally broke down and watched a quick guide on Ironclad, and without even seeing the video before, that's what I've been keeping. So it must be poor map management on my part

So a couple questions about that -

1) In my last run I got The Shovel at the very start with my random relic. Is it better to upgrade cards or dig for relics?

2) Better fight monsters and get cards/gold or hit more ? markers?

3) What is better to delete first? Defense or Attack?

Ok so there are two immediate problems here.

One, you have no block except your starting defends. That's really bad, you can't be a total glass cannon.

Two, you're hoarding your gold like a dragon instead of spending it at a shop.

2) Ran into one store, I usually spend my gold. I'm not hoarding it, just the map didn't take my along a path of a store because I didn't want to fight 2 Elites on Floor 2. I was also hitting a bit more ? because I had pretty much all the cards I wanted besides Limit and Double Tap, and I got showered in money a couple times

That deck is a bit thin and you really have no relics at all (4 of them do nothing in combat, 1 only affects the first turn, and extra energy relics aren't too useful once you have the first one), so it's not surprising that you lost. Your deck is going to get clogged with dazes.

Bosses generally need more strategy than your average enemy. You absolutely must kill Donu first before he buffs both of them up to crazy levels. Donu buffs, and Deca blocks. There is no reason to kill Deca first.

...Also you used the event to warp to the boss. You skipped 10+ floors of making your deck and relics better.

Silent has a lot of good defensive options so I find it surprising that you added basically nothing defensive to your deck. Footwork is great, but it doesn't increase the density of block cards in your deck. Surely you passed up some good options among the other cards.

As for the relic quality, among the ones that actually do things, Choker is a really bad energy relic especially on Silent, because you have lots of cheap cards and draw.
