During the direct today, they confirmed that there are still more characters that haven't been revealed yet. The ten characters above seem like the most likely choices to me, but obviously not all of them are gonna get in, so I wonder: out of those ten characters, who do you guys think is most likely? Place your votes!

I would looooooove to see Sub-Zero or Banjo and Kazooie, but my guess is ironically my least favourite: Shadow. He's too "Poochie" for me, but they already have Sonic and he'd fit in well.

I hate the Waluigi meme and I know it's skewing my perception of the actual likelihood, but isn't he plausible enough to make a list of ten? Did Nintendo already hard confirm he's not gonna be in it or something?

I voted for Dixie Kong since she seems popular enough, would translate well to Smash, and doesn't have licensing hangups. If they could pick anybody, I'd be inclined to say Banjo and Kazooie since they actually seem to be putting in longtime favorite suggestions (Ridley, K. Rool, Simon Belmont), but I don't know if they'll get permission.

Idk how likely it is but the way Microsoft and Nintendo have been all buddy-buddy lately, I wouldnt be that surprised seeing Master Chief

As for Decidueye.. I think Sakurai and the Pokemon company are working on introducing a new Pokemon that'll show up just before the new Gen game on Switch (much like how Greninja was worked on for Sm4sh before that Gen came out)

He never "became" a Sony mascot, if anything it was the reverse. They were exclusive at first but then it started branching out

The KH games don't have much history on Nintendo's devices, so that's pretty unlikely.

Except the crash n sane trilogy is avaliable on the switch now, travis is getting a new game soon, and sora does have some history on nintendo devices. Besides, cloud got in despite having almost no history on nintendo consoles. And all of those characters are highly requested ones.

dixie kong or decidueye (though i'd prefer incineroar)

with everyone they've been adding i don't feel bad getting my hopes up a little bit for banjo, though. them and crono or any SNES final fantasy rep would pretty much complete third party representation for me, anything else is just more icing on an already super tasty looking cake.

only thing that kind of bums me out so far is that knuckles is just an assist trophy, but whatever.

I do agree Sirknight makes perfect sense, but for some reason most people do not see an armoured knight in it...

Edit, also as an answer to the topic question, from the ones listed.

Sora and Travis seem plausible to promote upcoming games.
Rayman perhaps, with the whole Ubisoft partnership thing Nintendo has going on.
Most others I'd deem unlikely but possible.
Sub-Zero and Banjo I do not see happening for obvious reasons.

But what do I know? What I want most is unlikely, playable Golden Sun, Advance Wars and Breath of Fire representation.

I think they are very likely as they are highly requested characters and sakurai is trying to get as many of those into the roster as possible. And even so, less likely characters have gotten in before. I dont think ANYONE expected cloud and bayonetta to get into the last game, but they did!

Except phil spencer, the head of xbox, is 100% on board with him being in smash, and nintendo and xbox have been pretty friendly with each other lately, so I think he has a good chance.

I think hes more likely than you think, since ubisoft and nintendo have been very close lately with ubisoft making mario and rabbids: kingdom battles, and nintendo allowing ubisoft to put starfox characters in the switch version of starlink. Plus, rayman was already in the last game as a trophy (not an assist trophy, just a regular trophy, but still he was in the game somewhere). So I, along with many others, believe he has a good shot.

It has not yet been confirmed if hes returning as an assist, and just because he was an assist in previous games that dosent gurantee hes still going to be one in this game. After all, little mac was in brawl as an assist, and then became playable in smash 4. And the concept of echo fighters has opened the door for many more opprotunites to include other characters. And shadow as an echo fighter of sonic seems like an obvious choice to me and a lot of other people.

I think hes pretty likely since they always include at least one new pokemon from the most recent generation of pokemon when a new smash game comes around, and decidueye is probably the most popular request for a gen 7 rep. And Im aware of the possibility of it being a gen 8 pokemon since people are saying its pretty much confirmed that pokemon 2019 (thats what Im calling it untill they actually confirm what it is exactly) is gen 8, but I personally dont believe and am still hoping that its gen 4 remakes. Remember, pokemon gray was supposedly confirmed back in the day, and that never happened. Same with pokemon z.

-Dixie Kong
I highly doubt she will be an echo if she gets in, as she has a large number of differences from diddy kong that would make for a far more unique moveset. Though then again people thought the same about dark samus and she ended up just being an echo of samus, so I guess well just have to wait and see.

-Sub Zero
This mostly came from this rumor I remembered hearing about simon and sub zero getting in. And it was right about simon, so I figured that meant sub zero would have a good shot as well.

Hes a highly requested character, and hes even got a new game coming out soon. So I think hes got a good shot.

Shadow is almost definitely in as an echo at this point.
Dixie might be in as an echo (or possibly unique but unlikely).
A 7th gen pokemon is probably in.

I don't see any of the other characters listed as likely though they're all certainly possible. Banjo being probably the most likely at this point. Or maybe another Microsoft rep like Steve or even Master Chief, but I'd think Banjo is much more likely.

Anybody who could feasibly be an echo is possible to likely at this point, given how little effort it takes them.

I expect we'd see Rabbids over Rayman (who has never breached the level of "barely relevant"), if we see an Ubisoft rep.

Skull Kid is looking likely at this point as an original Zelda rep.

A Monster Hunter is possible but I suspect would have been shown with Rathalos.

Bandana Dee is possible if not likely.

Isaac is possible.

Geno is possible.

And there's going to be at least one super retro/wtf pick like ROB or Game & Watch or Duck Hunt.

I think ever since we saw Cloud we can dismiss the idea of "This can't happen". Cloud was the stupid meme character for a long time before Goku ever was. So nothing would surprise me at this point. But above is what I consider most likely.

Dark Pit is basically nothing more than Sakurai's take on Shadow the Hedgehog, so I don't see why Shadow shouldn't be thrown in as an echo character.
