Plus I didn't hear him say Nintendo even once. And even if so, do you honestly think that either Microsoft or Sony wouldn't have done the same thing? They're not your friends.

Literally using butwhataboutism to justify Nintendo's actions.

This can't be a real post

No, I'm trying to get it through your head that neither Microsoft or Sony are as consumer friendly as you think that they are.

No shit, I don't think of any of them as consumer friendly beyond the PR bullshit they spout. But that's not what you meant and you're not going to cover up what you said

Also Nintnedo are behind this as they filed lawsuits against the site.

Sony shut down Bleemcast in the past.

Nintendo is always the going to be the company who is most impacted by this stuff. They're selling two classic consoles right now.

Well yeah. Nobody is legally allowed to distribute every single ROM for these systems. They need to be licensed by the publishers and that's complicated as fuck. It's GOG's full time thing for PC games and even they have a lot of trouble with it.

But Nintendo platforms and their games are going to be the most popular on these sites. So of course they're going to be the ones being the most aggressive over it. They're selling the NES and SNES Classic (which hey you had plenty of people on this very board asking what was the point when you could download the games for free), they have an online subscription with NES games next month and they sell a whole bunch of old games on the Wii U and 3DS. It's part of their business.

Interestingly they're not even just removing the Nintendo stuff. So either these sites know that they won't get enough traffic without Nintendo stuff or the threat is coming from other companies as well.

I just like those sites because you can get obscure stuff that obviously no publisher sells anymore (like Terranigma or UN Squadron) or foreign stuff that got fan translated (SMT2, Front Mission). Those games are never ever going to come over here again in their original forms and it's important to preserve them

Yeah they did, some months ago i went looking for something basic like super metroid and the roms were dead already due to copyright, a lot of SNES games were actually.

Especially since it's no problem at all to get Mr. Gimmick, Little Samson, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and the original version of The Revenge of Shinobi for their Virtual Console on the Nintendo Switch.

Yes, the copy of Super Mario Bros on the Wii Virtual Console contains a header that's visible in a hex editor that was first brought into ROMs by the creater of INES, who is also responsible for creating the .NES extension. It requires this header in order to operate properly (because of different sized chips that were used in original hardware of the carts), and this header is present in the ripped copy of Super Mario Bros.

They completely dodged when asked about it, too. All they said was that Nintendo makes their own emulators. Nothing about their acquisition of the ROM or how it came to be.

What sucks most about Emuparadise going the way of the dodo is how they cleaned out absolutely everything. I can understand that roms of popular Nintendo games and other titles that are still readily available on current-day systems puts them in hot water, but why get rid of 30 year old scans of defunct magazines, vintage games whose rightholders went kaput decades ago, and games that probably cannot ever be republished due to licensing issues? It's such a thoughtless and ridiculous panic action that I cannot do anything else but shake my head in dismay. Also, not everyone has the money to buy a working Mega CD and a copy of Snatcher. As far as I'm aware, it's not been in print since 1995, and the addon itself was discontinued about the same time. Speaking of which, these systems and games of the past can be mantained, but new units will not be produced, and inevitably the existing units an copies become rarer and rarer until they're virtually extinct. T-Fords were made in the millions, but they're not common on today's roads, now are they? You can be absolutely sure that there'll come a day when a loose DuckTales cartridge for the NES will be worth a few thousand dollars.

So, how exactly would we be able to play the old and the obscure games of the past, if not for the emulation scene? I truly don't foresee today's gaming industry getting together to create a Spotify for video games, from where we can download, for example, NFL 94 for a Mega Drive, Need for Speed for a 3DO, and Super Mario Sunshine for the Gamecube, and the emulators that run the corresponding systems perfectly.

calm down
emuparadise was the easiest way to find obscure games but they werent the only one
if you put in the effort to find them you will
and the lesser known sites wont be as in much risk of shutting down because they arent as well known
