I can understand that roms of popular Nintendo games and other titles that are still readily available on current-day systems puts them in hot water, but why get rid of 30 year old scans of defunct magazines, vintage games whose rightholders went kaput decades ago, and games that probably cannot ever be republished due to licensing issues? It's such a thoughtless and ridiculous panic action that I cannot do anything else but shake my head in dismay. Also, not everyone has the money to buy a working Mega CD and a copy of Snatcher. As far as I'm aware, it's not been in print since 1995, and the addon itself was discontinued about the same time. Speaking of which, these systems and games of the past can be mantained, but new units will not be produced, and inevitably the existing units an copies become rarer and rarer until they're virtually extinct. T-Fords were made in the millions, but they're not common on today's roads, now are they? You can be absolutely sure that there'll come a day when a loose DuckTales cartridge for the NES will be worth a few thousand dollars. So, how exactly would we be able to play the old and the obscure games of the past, if not for the emulation scene?
