I thought it kind of jumped the shark around the time of "The Best Day Ever"

After the first movie when the main guy left.

The entire tone and intelligence level changed and the animation became too clean.

It felt more like a show just for kids instead of something all ages can appreciate.

Also Spongebob became this YELLING HYPERACTIVE A.D.D kid all the time.

The movie objectively caused the shift.

Every character became one note. Spongebob wasnt stupid like Patrick, just naive and childlike.

But youd never know from current episodes.

There was a lot of turnover with the writers and producers after the first movie. It's not a coincidence that the show started to suck around that time.

There are some recent episodes that are just fucking dreadful. It's like the show became a parody of itself, and then shit itself and died.
