It's probably about once a quarter for me. When I do, it's almost a non-stop thing though and I'll finish it in a week.

If I read like I used to in my elementary through high school years, I was knocking out at least 30. I try for around 10, usually read about 7-8 nowadays though.

If we are talking about comic/manga, magazine, etc., then a lot.

I probably hover around 20, depending on how things go in my life. If I'm busy or they're long, probably closer to a dozen but that's how many I aim to read a year.
Mind you, the books I read are typically under 250 pages. I read purely for fun, usually before work and I like them short so they last about 2 to 3 weeks with only small commitments a day.
Sci fi that is short is what got me into reading cause I really didn't like it outside of childhood. Then I learned how fun they can be and not exhausting when they're short. Every now and again, I'll take on a long book (500+ pages) when I crave something epic.

So if you don't liken reading, maybe explore other genres or book lengths. 2001 A Space Odyssey is what got me hooked.

Umm, you implied my post was about how the toxic people of this board come at me and I corrected you, sarcastically, thinking you'd understand that by reading you expand your connection with the world at large. Clearly, I overestimated your comprehension abilities. I'll just go back to not responding to your asinine posts.

But it's also not surprising that toxic people don't read.

You somehow overcame the cringe level of your last post pretending the point you were weirdly trying to make was clear and not completely out of left field. Don't worry, I typically don't respond to him and I'm going back to it. It's all vileness and vitrole from him anyways, never a positive statement.

But, I will contend that those that don't read are severely and dangerously unattached from the world at large.

I think when you're an adult it becomes a lot harder unless it's a hobby you invest time in. Between working, social stuff, and my hobbies, reading books is hardly a priority. Not to say, I havent read my share but its only when I get unexpectedly large amounts of free time. I read on average maybe 2 or 3 a year

I feel this is true. The older I got, the less time I had or reading. Though, it also depends on other things, like you job. During one job I had, I had lots of free time that I could read. It is very different now. But there was a short time where I had many, many free hours at night...

tbh, college killed most of my recreational reading. I went from 20-30 books recreational books a year to maybe 1-4. That's not counting audiobooks, which I keep meaning to get more into.

The only problem with that ridiculous sentiment is that vast majority of books are no better than the vast majority of films. Hell, it's arguably worse in the case of genre fiction which largely relies on other genre fiction for inspiration so you wind up with a derivation of a derivation of a derivation, largely written by people whose primary life experience comes from -- rather unsurprisingly, I might add -- reading genre fiction.

It's spelled "vitriol." If you're going to drop smart-sounding words, you should try spelling them correctly.
