I remember playing a little bit of one of the Monster Hunter games on PSP years back and it was ok. I had read a post somewhere about the new MH that people have logged 300 hours in the game on the console version and they are still hooked onto the game. Just curious if it's one of those games that has no ending and someone can play forever.

Also I might as well ask this here, what are some good games that people have played for thousands of hours? I'm on PC and need a new game to play. Doesn't matter which genre.

Depends on how much you'd enjoy it. I think MHW is mostly disappointing to older fans of the series since there isn't a big Monster roster, G-rank, and it's pretty easy. It's the first one I bought, but it feels worse going back to it after playing MH4U a lot. Just don't get too hung up on not having any success in decoration farming or the event monster that has random drops as weapons.

I have about 200 hours in MHW. I feel like I got my mileage out of it.
Unless you really like hunting the same 15 monsters over and over again, I don't feel like it has infinite replay value.

Don't really have a game I've played for thousands of hours other than Streets of Rage 2. I do recommend Streets of Rage Remake for pc though.
And if you haven't played it (which I doubt) the Age of Empires games are good for a few hundred hours.
