English is one of the most different Germanic languages because of this vocabulary, and "Anglish" makes it seem a lot more like the others. It's 90% accent, 9% vocabulary and spelling, and a tiny 1% of actual grammar and syntax differences ("the band are" vs "the band is", "in hospital" vs "in the hospital") Secondly, British English is a mostly newer set of dialects than North American English. What they speak now is further from "the original" than what Americans and Canadians speak. But that's also a moot concept, considering the language was constantly evolving and the only "original" here is Old English from like 1,500 years ago.
