I've made a topic before about playing Skyrim in my L2, but Fallout is just as good if not better. Lots of more...uhh...practical terms. Don't think "Langbogen" and "Drache" come up often in German conversations.

And the immersion factor is fantastic. As is the menus where you see the item and the L2 word with no L1->L2 translation involved.

Thanks!

I should mention that if you know the story and just wanna learn some vocab you can probably do it around A1 (CEFR), but if you want to actually be able to understand most conversations and stuff A2 is likely necessary.

I'd need to get even a basic understanding first though, but does sound a good idea otherwise.

I do it for shits and giggles in games where it changes the actual VA instead of just subtitles.

I once tried to play a JRPG in French. I just ended up wandering around with no idea what to do next because I understood no French. This only works for novice speakers.

Yeah lots of games on Steam you can just change the language and it'll change VA too. Skyrim I bought on UK PSN store on sale, it has German VA and subs. Fallout I bought on German PSN store on sale, because that's the only place it had German VA/subs
