I mean, it's a bigger waste of money if I screw it up and the car explodes.

How do you screw up an oil change? There's literally 3 steps.

1. Drain the oil.
2. Replace the filter.
3. Add new oil.

i've heard oil changes are annoying enough to do that it's not bad to just have someone whip it up for $20

i've never done it myself but it's not because i'm worried about breaking my car

That sounds like a lot of things to screw up.

Forgetting to put the plug or whatever back in, putting the filter in backwards, not tightening it, using the wrong oil, etc etc.

I knocked out 5 months worth of upcoming payments on my new truck today, going to fully pay off my insurance policy next week, and maybe do chrome delete on the truck soon after. Trying to be pretty close to debt free or at least have the truck paid off (36 month financing, purchased a few weeks ago) by the end of the year. Feels good bruh

I'll be honest, I take my car into a shop to get the oil changed. I prefer to have professionals do it while I read a book or play Kirby/Zelda/Mario.

Besides, the place I take it to will top off all my fluids, do tire rotation, and check the engine for any issues that may need repair for free with the oil change. So the $25 I spend on that is worth it to me.

Bah $40.

I guess it's better than spending 3 hours at a traditional mechanic waiting for them to get through the queue and another half hour cleaning the interior.

I once went to walmart because it was cheap. They stripped the damn plug putting it back on and didn't bother to say anything. Never again.

i recommend going to a non-dealership

Honestly its not hard but its really not that much cheaper to do it yourself, plus most places will rotate your tires for free
