It's a good idea though, the whole premise of the article is that whiteness is not a social construct and Italians/Irish/Jews were clearly always white, but their commenters would've obliterated that notion.

Boom, now you are obligated to support the censorship. You're also okay with forcing any business that makes any non-discrimination claim (cake bakers, restaurants, etc) to do whatever you want. Maybe the state could seize them to avoid fraud? What a nice "libertarian" justification for state-owned bakeries.

What is the implication? That if 1 Irish person was accepted or 1 Jew was accepted then that invalidates the millions of Irish/Jews in various periods of history that were deemed non-white? It's like saying that black KKK member proves the KKK isn't racist.

That's the entire point of whiteness as a social construct - white people get to decide who is white, whenever they want, for any reason. They are the gatekeepers. They can let people in and kick them out whenever it's convenient. During mass Irish/Italian immigration to the US, whites decided they were not white. That's the fact.

And the problem with racism is that it stains history so strongly. Even 100 years after a racist period the effect is still felt. And certainly you won't convince the discriminated Irish that they were always white because TJ had an Irish buddy. Is this the white dream? To point to Michael Jackson and Barrack Obama and claim racism never happened?

Point me to 1 Irish/Italian/Jew who agrees with this """skepticism""" and then I will consider it.
