- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.

- There may be SPOILERS from all of the shows/movies the characters are from.

Well, Wikipedia says he could beat a computer at chess at 10. I still don't think this would save him from Jareth's hypnotic balls

So even if sam had no particular ability at chess, he shows incredible aptitude at like damn near everything in Quantum Leap.

But then on top of that he's a garden variety genius who like all stereotypical geniuses rocks at chess.
