Some may remember I posted a story about a ride the ducks incident last Thursday that killed 17. Investigation by NTSB underway.

Absolutely awful.

One woman lost 9 relatives, including her husband and 3 children in that accident.

Yeah, I was thinking about why they couldn't just swim and sit on the top (bottom) of the capsized boat and then I saw the waves and realized that Michael Phelps wouldn't even survive in those conditions. I've never seen waves on a lake that big before.

Apparently that boat never should've been out there. As in, based on everything that was known that day, it never should've gone out. Someone royally fucked up.

Someone didn't pay attention or ignored the storm warning.
Captain told people not to wear life jackets.
The in general death trap nature of these boats.

I would imagine criminal charges for someone. The business itself and owner the tour is done. And maybe new NTSB standards for this type of boat but that's a stretch since this has happened before and nothing became of it.

Customers/passengers aren't required to wear life jackets. They are there though as they are required to carry one for every seat. But the way the boat went down those that didn't make it out wouldn't have. From what I've been told by people who have done a duck ride is that the life jackets make you too bulky to fit out the window. Could be wrong as I've never done it before

No it's not. This is the like second water-related accident in 40 years of operation. The only other accidents occurred on land, which, y'know, are car accidents, and we aren't going to shut down all cars until we investigate all car accidents.

Yeah probably criminal charges for the person/people who thought it was safe conditions and those who improved it, but no the company itself isn't in danger.

yeah I was gonna say that something like this happened a while ago in hot springs and they still operate the same thing

I do think it might be a different company doing it now but Im not sure

There is no way that business is staying in business after that. Maybe someone else comes in and runs those death traps but between getting sured into oblivion, criminal chargers and no one in their right mind that will insure them after this. They're done.

they've had accidents like this. still in business. even had one in seattle crash killing five and they hadn't even gotten to water yet,.

also sides were open as they're designed. it would've sank anyway.

Well it seems until the NTSB come out with their investigation results there's no more to report. May the people rest in peace and the families of the victims find peace in the chaos their lives became.
