Looking at a 2018 Honda Civic EX hatchback:
JUtHJfv

Good gas mileage, sporty, supports Android Auto, is a hatchback... I'm excited.

Always makes me chuckle when people say this. Used vs new in the same year and trim usually is only 1 or 2k difference. May as well just get new and avoid any issues that caused someone to trade in a less-than-year-old vehicle.

Ehhh, there's generally a bigger difference than that.

But, this is a Honda Civic. That's a car that you can drive for five years and as long as you maintained it on time and it has no body damage, you can sell it for just a few grand less than you bought it for.

One of the few cars where buying new is actually not an awful investment.

mazda3 hatchback looks better imo

Eh. Mazda's are too prevalent around here, and I've never heard great stories about Mazda reliability and maintenance.

Mazdas are good cars, and very fun to drive.

But nothing will beat the resale value a Civic will have.

Dat extra storage space.

I really wish the Dodge Dart had come in hatch form. I love my car but the trunk sucks.

I love hatchbacks. They look great and have fantastic utility.

Western WA. Lots of Mazdas and "Subies" around here. You can usually find them grouped together in Walmart parking lots around midnight, ogling each others piece-of-gravel-high ground clearance and grossly-cambered wheels.

This. Mazda's are up there with Honda and Toyota for dependability and fairly cheap maintenance (especially when compared to American cars), but a Civic will probably be better long term if you plan on selling. Still, you shouldn't be basing a purchase off of selling it in the future.
I have a 2015 Mazda with 70,000 miles and nothing has happened since I bought it new outside of regular maintenance. Fun as hell to drive, but a Civic is a solid purchase.

Papers are signed, just need to wait a few days at most for money to move around accounts to actually pay for it, and then we can take it home.

Oh, and something the stock photos in the OP don't reflect: the wheels are black. It looks killer with the red paint.

Nice looking car, but I'd have gone with the Accord 2.0 just to get away from the CVT. CVT cars are boring to drive. That's a matter of preference though, so if you're happy, good purchase.
