this opening cutscene is interesting... so yuna is a pop star? interesting. This song isn't so bad. hopefully the game is fun.

The whole story is pretty silly and just an excuse for playing dress up with three cute girls. But it was pretty fun dress up.

yeah, it seems goofy as hell, but I generally love that kind of thing. No need to be super serious all the time

and to be honest, I don't really get how the ATB fully works lmao. Like, what's the point. How is it different from any other turn based system, besides just having a bar at the bottom? If i don't go fast enough, will the enemy eventually out pace me for actions?

I don't remember the battle system in that game very well, but yeah, in most ATB systems the enemies can and will keep attacking you while you're deciding.

and yeah, this game is uber goofy lmao. I'm loving it.FFX is my favorite final fantasy game, so I'm kinda stoked to play this.

The one thing I really hated about that game is that there are some very specific and not at all obvious things you have to do to really finish it.

That's if you set the ATB Mode to Active. If you set it to Wait, you will not have this problem. I think there's an option in this game to do so, actually.

Yeah, that's true. I think active is the default. When you turn it to wait, there is definitely no real purpose to the bars.

Still better plotwise than most of FFX, honestly.

And easily better than most (if not all) of the FF games that followed after it.

Only if you want to save Tidus.

And honestly, if you don't know what you have to do to get that ending, you also won't really know what you're missing by not getting that ending, so it's not as if the "Not Quite Best Ending" is all that much worse in comparison.

Most of the other things you need to do are relatively common sense.

The real annoying part is essentially needing to beat the game twice for 100% completion.

X-2 is my favorite FF game. The story at the beginning is a bit quirky, but I still maintain that anyone that says the story in it is only goofy just never played it beyond chapter 2.

Good luck with the Thunder Plains mini games. The ones with Paine were very frustrating to me...

I still need to get the X/X-2 pack on Steam so I can play both of them again!

I never had a problem with the original TP mini game so I'll say worse.

Basically, there's a mini game for each girl and each mini game is different. They're mostly timing based mini games though. Just different inputs for the timings.

When you're in the Thunder Plains next, you'll see those towers that get struck by lightning, each of those towers is a mini game and they get harder the more you do.

I think the first difficulty is, so that's 3 towers. Doing all 10 gets you a good item.

I honestly can't remember how many are mandatory or if they are mandatory at all.

I played a little bit this morning. Pretty fun game. Buuuut, I got persona 5 in the mail today, soooo...

I don't know if I can play two turnbased jrpgs at the same time

Persona 5 was really fun until it overstayed its welcome for me. Around hour 70 I was getting tired and I almost hated the game by hour 100.

I didn't have that problem with Persona 3 and 4, so I either liked it less or have less patience for that kind of game time any more. :P

I don't know if I can put 70 hours into a non action rpg, tbh. I do like the SMT games though (more than FF).

It is really hard. And I don't seem to be able to finish a modern Persona game in less than 100+ hours.

I don't think I put in a lot of time in smt4 when I beat it.

I'll be honest...

The story is pretty bad by pretty much every standard. There are a FEW moments that are legit-good (1,000 words) but most of it is lulzy-stupid.

The combat system is good. One of the best set-ups will be the Unerring Path grin with a WHM on one end and another class of your choice on the other. Though there is certainly nothing wrong with other grids.

Do all the sidequests and the like (though no one will fault you for skipping Blitzball).

As long as you're not trying to go for 100% in X-2 it shouldn't take you too long to beat it.
