Current Events > iPhone 8 or iPhone x?

I wanted to wait until the next iPhone came out, but there's no way my current phone can make it that long. My 6 is definitely showing it's age and has gotten to the point where it can barely hold a charge, and when I do charge it the phone needs to be turned off. It's causing some issues with work so I gotta get a new one now.

Is the X worth the extra price?

Not interested in another brand btw so save those suggestions.

If you're paying iPhone prices, get the one that actually has an OLED display. Idk why tf apple took so long to get a decent display. Unless you really need dat camera, you can spend your money wiser on an android. And even then, the pixel 2 has it beat.

The 8 is seriously subpar. Get the X if you absolutely have to get an iPhone.

Have you tried getting a mophie case or taking it into Apple? Pretty close to next round of phones in sept.

I mean, the X's display is good, but apple's displays are manufactured by Samsung, and aren't really going to beat their flagships. The big up the X has is brightness, technically. It's still more or less the same screen on Samsung phones, but with lower specs.

The S9 display being that good doesn't mean that the iPhone X screen suddenly sucks or something, ya know? It's still the best iPhone screen and one of the best out there period. Of course Samsung is gonna save the best for their own, but Apple probably wouldn't accept anything crappy either from them.

You also gotta consider battery life and performance, something that apparently the S9 doesn't really outdo the X on.

X. Best phone out right now.

-Facial recognition is nice.
-Great screen size.
-Great battery life.
-Amazing camera and portrait mode.
-Smooth as butter. Havent had any issues with freezes or hiccups with iOS.

Anyway TC, since I'm already here - the 8 presents itself as the better value buy since it carries the same SoC as the X but is some $200+ less.

Do you guys have a case to recommend or is otterbox still the way to go? On my 6 I had a lifeproof (got it through store credit that I had to use then and there or there's no way in hell I'd drop that kinda money for it. The thing fell apart in like a year.)

I like these Spigen cases. Theyre cheap, reliable and come in a nice selection of colors. Instead of spending a bunch on a case I would get a case like this and a nice screen protector. If youre worried about people seeing your screen theres privacy options of course.

The new phones are all water-resistant. You dont need a super expensive case.

The UAG Monarch on the iPhonesis literally the perfect case for me. Metal/leather/TPU build, easy to put on and take off, clicky buttons, and gives you a good grip. Would recommend it if you're interested.

The UAG Pathfinder is a cheaper version that's just as good, I just like the build on the Monarch more.

Well I'm stupid. I just tried a friends charger and it's working fine now. I think the problem is I take my charger with me every day to work and just put it in my pocket. The battery life is still shitty, but I'll be more careful with the charger I just bought for the next couple months. I think another problem was I kept buying cheap-o 10 dollar chargers.

False alarm. X2 here I come.

-X fits much better in the hand since the bezel is gone as well as home button.
-Face ID is better than Touch ID.
-Stainless steel on X versus aluminum on 8.

The X is the best IMO because of the form factor. It feels better in the hand it doesnt feel like any part of the phone is unnecessary.
