It certainly wasn't a masterpiece of cinema but it wasn't near as bad as the internet treats it. Save for a few annoying "that's way too convenient" plot points I enjoyed it overall. Solid 7.5/10

A lot of the hate was carried over from reading the books I think. Movie isn't great but it did ok with what it had to work with.

I just watched it yesterday. I thought it was average. Didnt know there was hate though, most people I know who watched it irl liked it.

Hivemind mentality. The book was always somewhat divisive, but once the trailers released nerds decided it would be cool to hate on it.
