I wouldn't say we wall want that all. Given the vote was a pretty even split, only half the country even wanted it to begin with and I can't see that having improved with how god awful it's been since.

And lol, like she has any dignity at this point.

The media may have stopped telling the story, but some of us do remember that even the biggest Brexiteers were touting what is now being called soft Brexit but that's apparently now treasonous to suggest.

52% of people voted to leave the EU. Nothing about that vote entails to what extent those 52% want to be separated from the EU. Another reason that this referendum was such a clusterfuck.

It's not stupidity it's "their manipulation could mean we get into power!" it's their own selfishness that allows Russia to do what it does unimpeded, Republicans welcomed the interference because it's awarded them decades worth of power and I'm sure the labor party is welcoming that inference because if soft brexit goes through that's pretty much the end of the parties in the U.K. giving rise to the labor party to take control.

When you have elements in western nations benefiting from interference (like the GOP in the States, certain elements of the Tories in the UK, and far-right parties all over western Europe) then it's no shocker that they would be kinda paralyzed with their response.

Its also difficult to take an aggressive stance against a country with a giant military, nuclear arsenal, tenuous borders, and important trade agreements with your allies. Putin is playing a 19th century game, but he knows he can get away with it because escalation is too dangerous to weigh against any singular transgression short of war

It's that they are too stupid to unite. It's that capitalism has now been allowed to infect every single western institution. The people with the money are only interested in one thing, getting more money. They will manipulate everything they can for the sole goal of profit.

Also lets not forget in the case of brexit that if the election were held again right now, it would be voted down. It not as if the vote was overwhelmingly pro-brexit. It was 51.98% to 48.11% Go back and watch the news coverage and the interviews of people on the street, the majority of them who voted for brexit didn't even understand what it actually meant.
