I never watched Brooklyn 99 so I have no idea what show it's most like but Community S1-2 is such peak comedy it has to be watched, although AD is also definitely up there.

Parks & Rec, 30 Rock, Community, Arrested Development in that order. Though I know a lot of people swear by AD. Community is probably the best when it's at its best but it has too many lows while Parks & Rec and 30 Rock don't really have a low imo.

Parks is the most consistent all the way through. AD has the funniest moments. Community has 2-3 really good seasons. 30 Rock has about 1-2 really good seasons and some pretty terrible ones.

How the hell have you seen Brooklyn 99 without watching any of those others first? Usually I see "If you liked [any of those 4 shows], check out B99!"

P&R is gonna be most similar, then 30 Rock. Community also has a similar vibe but can be more cynical. AD is even MORE cynical but still quality. Really you should watch all of them when you get the chance. Also if you end up liking 30 Rock, then add Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to the list.

edit: And you're gonna have a hell of a time watching all of these for the first time. I'm kinda jealous.

Definitely Community.

Parks is solid, but the melodrama gets to be a bit much for me sometimes.

Havent really watched the other two, but based on the clips I've seen, they seem really cringy

Community was created by Dan Harmon, so cynical describes the show alright. That dude is a depressed genius, I love him. That said, he was absent for one season and it's pretty noticeable. I don't remember enjoying those episodes much.

I don't know how you can say then when S3 is one of the best sitcom seasons ever. Or at the very least, that's the most iconic. Remedial Chaos Theory is the definitive episode of the show and even disregarding that, there's some incredible stuff like the S3 Christmas episode and Pillows vs Blankets.

The last season of parks is pretty terrible and the season before that is a definite drop off from the others but still okay-ish.

Community has some low points too and it never really recaptures the magic of its first two seasons, but the first two seasons are so good it probably doesnt matter.

Those are my two favorite of the four though!

I really enjoyed the last season of Parks so I dunno. I enjoyed every season except the first, which is just forgettable.

Community has a serious dip in S4 though.

before it promptly dropped them on the ground in season 4, tripped over them in season 5, and rebuilt things pearl fey style in season 6

Yeah S1-3 of Community are just generally really, really good. It's just a very lovable show. Apart from being funny, you root for the characters moreso than in something like Arrested Development (which I also love).

4-6 are noticeably less good but there are some fantastic episodes in there still.

All are fantastic though. Later seasons of ad and community are so hit and miss that the other shows trump it. 30 rock is probably the most consistent but never hits the highs of the other two.

Edit - also the above I listed are all better than 99.

This is the correct order, but Arrested Development needs a few more greater than signs in front of it. My favorite show of all time, but yes, the first three seasons (before its initial cancellation) are definitely the best.

Why Arrested Development Season 5 drug out the plot line of Season 4 without really adding anything of value is beyond me. Why the decided to push the Rebel Howard storyline, aka the worst Season 4 storyline, front and center is beyond me.
