Background: I've been in current workplace for 2 years and 3 months. I'm a system analyst for a logistics company (my major was Information Systems). The pay is...decent. The workplace environment is pretty great, no toxic people (in my dept at least) and it's pretty lax. My other coworkers play DotA regularly in the late afternoon lol.

But I just felt so detached and disinterested in the job itself. It can suck really hard at times because we need to make internal systems that keep up with the changes of, say, the customs clearance. And I do it myself 99% of the time since I had to reverse engineering their program with the hidden rules we couldn't get because we weren't supposed to do it anyway (they mandate the logistics companies to use their system, not our own).

Of course it's not like people have to work in what they're interested in and it's a privilege. But I feel like I would be stuck any way if I keep doing 'okay' job because I don't have the drive to get better? I can just coast by.

Then I saw an opening for a Creative Research position at a theme park company, but for their shows (like at the theatre inside the park, parades, etc.). Particularly we will research of how to pull off certain effects the director wants, or find visual references for a theme we're going for. It's much more exciting for me, I love musicals.

But well, this will be my first job change (Fire Emblem/FFT flashbacks) and well, I wonder if I'll regret it or not. The salary is a bit more but nothing to write home about.

Another thing to note is this new job won't be in line with my education and my mom is lowkey mad about it because my parents paid for my education and I'd 'worked so hard for it' and all...

tl;dr
Current workplace:
- Chill
- Can go home at 5.30
- Quite close to my home (20 mins of commute)
- Comfort zone
- Not interested in the job

New workplace:
- IDK how chill the people are
- Overtime is the norm
- A bit further from my home (50 mins of commute)
- Exciting

So yeah...I guess what I want to ask is...anyone has any tips on the transition process? Or anyone wants to share their experiences moving from one job to another (especially if it's in a very different field with your educational background)?
