I think everyone can agree if it isnt beach weather (70-75, medium-light breeze, slightly cloudy) that its shitty weather.

Well that's subjective. If you're trying to go snowboarding nthat weather sucks. But yeah for the most part you're right. Do you think that it's better to live on the coasts? Do you think lake Superior is even comparable to the Pacific ocean, let alone Superior?

Ive only ever lived in Florisa so itd be hard to make that comparison.

Will say though that whatever climate Spain has around march/April is pretty good too.

I was born and raised in Hawaii so I didn't even know what weather was till I was like 21 lol. Hawaii is absolutely perfect in all regards so living in Cali now is actually a bit of a struggle, even though other people move here for the weather lol, shows how spoiled I am.

And did you travel to Spain recently or something? Was it amazing there?

This has nothing to do with feeling superior. This has to do with one region of the country thinking that the rest of the country cares about them having hot weather for a week when the rest of the country has had hot weather for months already.

Not recently, 2010 actually. But it was baller. We went to France and Spain that week, and the weather in France was just terrible. Cold, rainy, and with a biting wind chill to boot. All accentuated by most French stereotypes about them being terrible people being true at that.

Jump on an even more god awful train ride (#uninventtrains) and when we emerged it was like I was in another world. Was basically the weather i described just slightly chillier during the day. Absolutely gorgeous.

And the people! I love Spaniards. Idk how other European countries are aside from these two but the Spanish were far closer to providing the southern hospitality I know from the US than the French were. No matter where we went whether it was a touristy place like Barcelona or some of the smaller towns we visited wherever we basically stopped everywhere that seemed interesting in between wherever we got off our train close to the border to Barcelona and then then to our hotel on the Med. Coast. As well as everywhere between there and Madrid when we were flying back.

That sounds incredible man, im super jealous. I went in a student ambassador trip when I was in highschool, sometime around 2002, but we just went to England Ireland and Wales. The weather was what you'd expect lol. But damn, Spain is def on my bucket list of places to visit, especially with what you just said, and Italy as well.

As a Southern Californian, I will damn well complain about the weather. It's gradually becoming the most expensive place to live in the US. There needs to be something that makes it worth it. The overpopulation sure isn't helping either. The biggest saving grace is that we generally have the best weather conditions. Perfect weather majority of the time.

See, that's something I never understood. How the hell is having the same weather every single day "perfect?" I like a brisk 10 degree January morning. I like a 100 degree August afternoon. Why would you want the weather to be the same... every day?

Perfect isn't exactly always the same. It's just within a reasonable range. When it's "cold" it's not too cold as to where you have to worry about getting frostbite because you forgot your jacket. It's generally in the 60s. Winters are chilly as opposed to being cold. When it rains, it's not super humid and muggy. Very rare to have hailstorms or other weather hazards like tornados and hurricanes. Summer rolls around and it's generally pretty warm. Don't have to worry about getting a heatstroke or whatnot. Perfect beach weather. Generally 80s to 90s.

I can imagine. Either Hawaii or pretending im a tourist at Disney (despite living in Fl for 26 years ive yet to be able to get the full experience. Just random half-day visits as a kid I wasnt always on board with to begin with) is going to be my vacation whenever it is that I get one.

It's true, I lived in Vegas for two years where it's super dry, so when I moved back home oh man, I had to take two showers a day cuz it was so humid. But it eventually went away as my body reacclimated.

But if you don't enjoy the beach and hiking and studfime surfing, then it isn't a great place to live. For some people it's actually terrible because there isn't a whole ton to do if you're not interested in the natural attractions that Hawaii has to offer. But for someone like me? It's heaven on Earth, can't imagine a better place to live.

Well read my last post. If you go to Hawaii I recommend trying to get a local to show you around, otherwise you'll just get stuck In tourist traps and end up spending all your money in Waikiki. Go to North shore, go to the outer Islands and hike/camp. Molokai and Kauai are the two best islands for camping and hiking, they're like the most tropical and has far less development than Oahu, which is my home island and the main island in the chain.

I just like the diversity of CA. I'm like an hour or few away from whatever I want. Live in the suburbs. L.A. hustle and bustle is only 40 or so minutes away. Beach is 20 minute drive. Plenty of naturey hiking trails. We got lakes, sand dunes, etc. Want some snow? 2 hour drive to Big Bear. Can't see myself permanently living anywhere else... Unless it becomes even more overpopulated and overpriced.

Yeah that's what Hawaii doesn't have, options that are just a couple hours drive away. A lot of people get island fever cuz you can just pack up and go somewhere. Gotta take a 5 hour flight just to go anywhere out of state. It's why I loved living in Vegas, I had so many options just a little way away from me.

Still has some humidity. Any more than what I get in Cali is a no for me. Just because I can deal with it doesn't make it something I enjoy. Spent a year in Japan, and I adapted, however when I came back it was like the biggest weight lifted of my shoulders. That weight being the gallons of sweat I secreted on the daily. Twas a fun summer, but had I gotten my Cali weather it would have been even greater.

I guess it depends on where in Cali. I live in SoCal. Literally have only dealt with like 3 or 4 days with 100+ weather. In Orange County it's indeed pretty rare.

Like I said prior, I like variety with my weather so long as it's within a reasonable range. Winters aren't bad. They're chilly at most. Put on a jacket, and you're fine. Summers are equally reasonable. Usually ranged in the 80s. Other than these random hot days, I've zero complaints about the weather. I mean, I suppose it could rain some more. I wouldn't mind that. Whenever it rains it hardly seems to last.

Yeah I'm up in sac ATM so it's a totally different climate here, but it is more humid down there and when you mix that with the unbearable heat, I don't even wanna go outside. And the winter? Ugh, sorry but I'm super spoiled growing up in paradise so any weather that requires I get anything more than a light sweatshirt at the very most is too much for me. In Hawaii, once In a while at night it gets cool enough to wear a hoodie, but this whole needing a thick jacket is for the birds.

I don't know what you're saying about humidity. OC doesn't have that problem. Meh. Different strokes. I don't really have to wear a heavy coat. Usually a leather jacket would suffice. Of course not everyday is gonna be a beach day, but Winters without a jacket are very manageable here. No harm. Though I'm not opposed to weather that warrants a heavier set of clothes. I'm a bit of a fashionista. The one thing I hate about summer is being restricted to what I should wear. We do have seasons. They're just light seasons.

All in all I can't generalize California's weather. It's much too large a state, and hence it consists of a variety of environments with a variety of climates. I mean snow is an hour away and the dry dry deserts are a few more. It really is a bizarre place when you think about it. Which probably why I love it. However, I'll always have my OC bias.

This topic is a shitshow.

"Coasts are better!" (even if you're in Atlantic/Pacific states and are 50 miles away from the actual coast)

"NUH UH! Midwest is better!" (all of the entire massive midwest. Citation: living directly on the great lakes)

Both of you fuck off. I'm within a few hours of Boston, Cape Cod, Coastal RI and CT, NYC area. Weather is shit-garbage here and a few hours from the great lakes is probably no better.

Kansas City is better than LA.

EDIT: Also I'd be willing to have a practical conversation about how my life on the lake >>>>> his life by the ocean, thus taking out my assertion that the "whole midwest >>> the coasts" (which is true for places like my place on the lake but not true for places like buttfuck Iowa), but he won't even agree to that. He's too triggered and defensive because he knows deep down how wrong he is.

Never been to Kansas City, but can confirm it's probably better than LA.

Considering his response to me, I'm inclined to side with you. I would imagine that the nature of the lakes area would be similar to the coasts, considering your lakes are all bigger than my whole state :P

But yeah, at the same time, fuck the literal rest of the midwest.

Yeah I'm being reasonable here. I respond to the guy quite respectfully in post #23, and his response in post #24 is effectively "no u."

And even I can admit when I'm wrong; look at post 87. I admit to being biased because I was lumping "the midwest" all together when I was actually just discussing the lakehouse on Lake Superior, which is just a small representation of the midwest. So I took a step back and am offering to have a conversation about essentially my lake life vs. his ocean life. But nah, he's confirmed to be trolling at this point.

Life on Lake Superior > Kansas City > California > Rural midwest (Iowa lol the WORST)

I can admit I made a mistake with the way I was being misleading, so I chose to rectify that. Meanwhile this guy is just like "naah no u." Which is even sillier because you'd think his approach of "wow i don't even have to dignify that with a response" means he has enough ammo in the tank to blow my argument out of the water. But he refuses to respond, so until he does, I get the W.

Lol wait... You're actually saying people on the east coast weren't bitching about the heat?! LMAO omg what rock have you been living under?

Idk why people try and convince themselves that the cold is more inconvenient than the heat

Heat is so much worse

Firstly, we didn't say anything about the cold. Everyone on the east coast was bitching about the heat.

Secondly, the cold is easily worse. I can actually stay outside in the heat whereas in the cold I have a limited timeframe I can stay outside.

If you're too cold, you can bundle up more layers.
If you're too hot, you're SOL

Literally no amount of layers will protect me from the cold. It will eventually eat me away. I can stay out in the sun for a whole day and just need to worry about applying sunscreen if I am actually in the sun.

Both at their extremes can suck it tbh. But I much prefer Summer/Spring >>>> Winter/Autumn
