WoW is popamole shit these days and is awful to play.

FF14 plays like WoW, has a ton of awful quests that you won't ever give a fuck about that you must do no matter what. Also has slow as fuck combat.

GW2 is inferior to GW1 in every way.

If you have fast reaction times ffxiv will tick you off to no end and be consistently annoying you. There is a big delay (big as in split seconds, to me it is "big") Where the server has a delay in knowing what you do and where you are. Depending on your ping, this can take the problem further by increasing the chances of abilities going on CD but them not doing anything. I NEVER NEVER seen wow do this. I played WoW connecting to EU and NA, and I never seen delays like that in WoW, it is not my net, FFXIV servers are trash and outdated.

Also FFXIV has animation delays to everything and can cause CD clipping, again depending on your ping this can effect your DPS depending on your skill to wave OCDS in between GCDs. (FFXIV also has server tics, this impacts BLM DPS at times, depending on situation and luck with those ticks. With the level 70 spell foul, and with thunder/thundercloud management, you can minimize the effect on you but... still its stupid they have game coding effect a job like that)

Then the big negtive to FFXIV, the repeated tredmill. It does the same thing over and over and over and over since AAR. The way you progress is the same thing, basically I can say the current patch of 4.3x is just like 3.3x, and this even goes with crafting. To make the top end crafting gear for example, you do this by taking an item you get by beast tribes, combing it with other items found from current gathering nodes and such. THE ONLY difference of the 3.3 and 4.3 craffting gear is the fact you get the demi-materia though yellow scripts, not desynth (way it was obtained for the 3.3 stuff) and the final kicker of those 2 sets being copy/paste/ reskin is the fact they both take gold ingots, an item based on 2.xx crafting. They keep reusing items from outdated content to further bloat your inventory.

Now they have micro transactions to allow you have more inventory, 2 dollars for 175 extra slots (if you play all the classes, glam them, craft, etc, basically play full use of the game, this isn't a lot) it can add up to 14 dollars a month since you pay for 7, then they are going to release an app that is 5 dollars on top of that, and that locks a basic UI feature of being able to transfer items between retainers (the thing you pay 2 dollars extra for) and then you can pay another 2 dollars for an extra 8th paid retainer (10 total) meaning you can be paying 36 dollars a month for this game, depending what you want to get out of it. FFXIV invented subception, pay a sub, then you branch in parallel sub costs, then you can further pay for a sub, to pay for a final sub cost (the final 10th retainer for 2 dollars a month)

Because of that I consider all their micro transactions too expensive, their extra items (most of the time for ONE CHARACTER, most wow stuff is account wide) where you can be paying 18 dollars and some of those outfits are low quality, like the recent princess dress where tails clip though it badly. I would recommend wow over ffxiv, least they got better customer service at the end of the day.

I also cast my votes towards GW2 or FFXIV. It depends on what you're looking for with your time. If I wasn't also devoted to single player games, like Octopath coming out soon, I'd resub to FFXIV. With my time being split like that, as well as other hobbies I want to keep, GW2 is a good choice since you can play when you want without feeling obligated to because you paid for that month(s)/year.

Eh, I don't see it emphasizing questing over dungeons/daily tasks. I don't hear a lot about PVP or raiding though personally.

WoW for sure. it's really the best polished game still. there is a reason it was the one to dethrone Everquest. and I don't think it ever truly lost it's crown. Old Republic had a chance to take over but they fucked it up
